seredefe to MODA!

yesterday, at 5, Muge, my german friend, decided to go to a really nice place in Istanbul, Moda. So we took a bus 45 minutes, waited for another bus for 10, rode on the smaller tram bus thing for 15 and arrived in Moda. By the time we got there, it was dark and a little creepy. She said, "my cousins told me this was really nice". I mean, I believed her, she wouldn't have wanted to go to "creep town aka MODA" with just one other chick at night. So we decided to keep walking where there were open shops because we both wanted a beer very badly.

I think, around tuesday of everyweek, I have recovered from my one drunken night, sightseeing and I realize I'm back in school, and want to drink.

So as we were walking, looking, saying "oh, this is nice, we should come back", we walked right up a restaurant that we frequent. Problem is, the restaurant is in Katakoy. We had walked back to Katakoy. It was awful. and we know that there is nothing fun in Katakoy, but it was entertaining. So we had a beer in a smaller restaurant and talked about politics and life and spoke some german (score) and worked on my turkish. The cafe, and I will hold to this, is in Moda. It may have the smell of fish like Kadakoy, but we were in Moda.

After that, we decided to try a new bar, just for one more drink, no big deal. It was like 7:30...lame I know, but we have a curfew. So we walked through Katakoy lookinf for a place that would let women in. But that's a whole different post. We found one that was very neon, and went in. After climbing the first flight of stairs, I realized, this is going to be a story. I have to write about this. It's going to be creepy. Loud Music, electronic, hip hop, even "Sexy Back" made an apperence, lights, Muge and I were in the blacklight room with 3 turkish men who were dancing with each other and jumping on the speakers and clapping, I can't wait to teach you all how turkish people dance! It's fantastic. And on one knew I was from America, it was nice. After a while, Muge and I began dancing as well, and that's when the creepiness began-we had been dancing for maybe an hour until one of the got the balls to talk to us. They did the turkish kiss thing, which I freaking love, and he asked me a question...damn. I had to say Turke bilimiyorum. And then, one of his friends came over-it's not he spoke english either-but he was asking me all sorts of questions, putting his arms around me, touching my face and saying "chok gazelle", very beautiful. Yeah, I said thanks, and he kept trying to buy me another beer. So we left...quick.

It wasnt until we got home that Muge told me the guy asked for our phone numbers, and she gave him Marco's. Fuck yeah Muge. Fuck yeah.
