Something Wicked (Part Two)

(The following is a continuance of this scene.)

The battle wasn't going well...but it could be a lot, LOT worse.

The chimp had arrived, and he brought backup - but it sure as heck wasn't the Justice League.

Sand had surveyed the situation.  Chimp was on his way to meet with Corrine and Caleb, to add the last ingredient of the potion.   Tefe Holland ( ( Read more... )

Mammoth's still shaking out the cobwebs from being hit by Dr. Manhattan when Shimmer notes the two unknown entities heading towards them.

"Oh joy, we've got fire *AND* ice in the mix." Shimmer says. "Think you can paper train the puppy over there, Baran?"

She'd been holding back, arguing with herself about why she's here. Didn't she want OUT of this nonsense?

When it comes right down to it, however, she can't just stand by and watch. A frown creases her brows and she ignites.

"Train this." It isn't shouted. It isn't even a raised voice. It's a simple statement followed up with a blast of green fire drawn in a line in front of Shimmer and Mammoth.

Shimmer swore. "HER I know. Baran, take the twins."

Immediately the sky above Fire changes to rain. No rainclouds...just drops of water.

She winces at the first hiss then turns a glare on Shimmer. It's been a while since she's done this, but some things you just don't forget how to do....like sex.

The thought makes her smirk as she takes flight and puts on the speed towards Shimmer, intent on a quarterback blitz.

Zan watches the pair warily. He has no idea of their respective powers. Apparently, the female can make it rain. And there is no mistaking the muscular bulk of the male. He can only assume that the fire-blessed woman is an ally.

Zan sizes up the situation a moment longer. Blades will be of little use where there is no killing to be done. The sudden downpour from the sky gives him an idea, however. The edge of one bladed arm brushes the fur of Jayna's back. A massive wall of water crashes into Mammoth in the next instant. It won't last long; Zan is young yet and maintaining the surface tension of unsupported water would be difficult for one with decades more experience than he has. Still, it'll make breathing interesting prospect for Mammoth for a minute or so. Zan just hopes the impact knocked some of the wind out of the human first.

Mammoth coughs, he definitely swallowed some water and is wondering what just happened.

Shimmer, however, manages to move out of the way of Fire's power-dive. She tries a different, more subtle tack - transforming the air immediately around fire into a solid block of lead, not tight against the body, but enough to encase her.

Not good. Not good!

Her fire extinguishes without fuel and she thunks to the ground. Hard.

...ow....

Zan's control breaks after a few moments. He flows around his sister's paws and reverts to an ice warrior again, one hand taloned, the other more of a maul. Oh. This might be a problem. Unlike his sister, Zan's gifts don't offer him the potential for greater physical strength, only versitility and a certain amount of duribility. He hopes that his sister can deal with the brawny human and while he is still busy coughing water from his lungs and free the fire female. Zan himself moves to distract the human female and her diverse elemental blessings. He swings his maul hand, hoping to incapcitate with a blow.

At that moment, Zan feels the body of his sister slam into him hard, as Mammoth had thrown her right into him. "Watch your back, Selinda." He said.

It's not right close to her body but it's heavy and it's getting stuffy in here. She'd rather not spend her time waiting to see how long it'll take until she runs out of air. And die. Her website members would be so disappointed.

If there is oxygen to breathe, then it can burn. She won't have to do much. Lead is heavy, but soft. A blast in just the right spot and she can burst her way out.

She calms the rising panic and focuses her fire into her fist, releasing it in a single blast against the lead shell.

Jayna leapfrogs back into the battle, her razor claws heading for the behemoth. No killing is fine, but she's sure this warrior could stand the loss of a couple pints of blood.

Unfortunately, this warrior also has incredibly tough skin. He grabs her by the throat. "I've had enough of this..."

"So have we."

Brainwave touches Mammoth, and a hard psionic blast drops him to the ground, stunned, but not unconscious.

He then turns toward the Twins. Initial passive scans showed their thought patterns to be of alien descent - and they definitely didn't speak English.

So he did the next best thing. Before the creature could move or react, Brainwave touches her - and in a matter of moments, does a hardcore download of the Exorian language from her brain. She knows it's happening, but it's painless to her.

HE, on the other hand, has a migrane when he's done. But when he speaks next, he speaks in their language. "I'm sorry about that, but I had no other way to communicate with you. Thank you for your help."

Travis phases back up near the scene, as the behemoth is falling. Trying to lend a hand here, he takes the moments while Mammoth is down to analyze his optic nerves and take aim.
The moment Mammoth's eyes open, he sends a burst of energy at the spot, trying to fire every nerve there at once. If he's doing this right, it should end up being, for all intents and purposes, a painfully bright flash of light that only Mammoth can see.

In a moment, Mammoth howls in agony. The styles of attack are ones he doesn't easily defend.

From the immense pain to the brain, the monster finally passes out.

Sand looks over and sees a familiar face. And smiles. Oh HECK yeah, a Green Lantern. Now we're in business. he thinks to himself. He moves over to where Travis emerged.

"Boy are you a sight for sore eyes." Sand says, and immediately winces at the unintended pun. "Hold on, let me dial you into the party line." He then looks towards Brainwave. Hank, please add him into the braintrust.

In a second, Travis is now part of the mindlink.
