Something Wicked (Part Two)

(The following is a continuance of this scene.)

The battle wasn't going well...but it could be a lot, LOT worse.

The chimp had arrived, and he brought backup - but it sure as heck wasn't the Justice League.

Sand had surveyed the situation.  Chimp was on his way to meet with Corrine and Caleb, to add the last ingredient of the potion.   Tefe Holland ( ( Read more... )

A wave of the hand, and the fire wall dispels. It's hard for fire to hurt when it's having a hard time hitting target in the first place.

She reaches in, grabs Trevor by the throat, and lifts.

Suddenly the ground erupts underneath Magique, and she's swallowed whole by a mound of earth, forcing her to release Trevor.

She's then spit directly skyward, as Sand emerges from the ground to the surface.

Trevor looks up from his kneeling position, still holding his neck, and sees Magique tumbling. Okay, enough of playing their way. Now it's my turn.

Jumping as hard as he can, Trevor adds as much pyrokinetic propulsion as he can to put himself on an intercept course with the witches. As he goes, he heats up the strike pads until they're glowing white.

The gestalt-form of the Witches tumbles, then straightens out before holding in the air level via levitation.

At that point, however, Trevor connects, and her head snaps back with the glow. The mark of the strike pads is clear as there is charred flesh on her cheek. Eyes glowing with rage, she counters with a hard kick to Trevor's sternum, follwed by a flipover ax kick that sends Trevor plummeting to the ground with authoritative force.

Immediately, Sand goes to work.

First, he creates an earthslide underneath Trevor to allow him to fall with dignity.

Then, he expands the earthslide upwards, and it envelops Magique into a hardrock ball.

It then extends around Trevor, so when he falls to the earth, there is an earthen tube that extends directly upwards to where the witch currently stood.

"Fire in the hole." Sand said.

Whoa, super slip-and-slide Trevor thinks incoherently at the slide forms beneath him, cushioning his fall. As it closes around him he wonders what Sand is up to, but then sees where the tube is pointing, and hears Sand's comment about "fire in the hole."

As Trevor clasps his hands together over his head the fire springs up around him again, growing until it erupts from the earthen hole directly at Magique.

"Come on, Cole, don't choke now," Trevor mutters at himself, ignoring the pain in his chest and back as well as what feels like freshly opened cuts on his abdomen as he increases the intensity of the miniature volcano he's powering. If he does it right, the rock around Magique should melt and solidify.

Works like a charm - the rock does indeed melt and solidify, and a nice-sized scream emanates from above...

...before the structure bursts open. She's scalded and angry.

You want fire so much? Let it consume you.

And an eldritch bolt streaks immediately towards Hotshot.

Sand figured there was no way Trevor had enough in him to do the dodge. So he did what any hero would.

He shoved Trevor hard to the side and took the bolt himself.

IMMEDIATELY the bolt has its desired effect - take what makes that person special and amplify it to the point of explosion. Sand's body immediately shifts to sand, then is literally blown in all directions.

Trevor lands hard, and the question of what the hell Sand is doing dies on his lips as Sand literally explodes. A good portion of the sandy debris coats Trevor, and he takes a second to slap it off of his face as it sinks in what just happened.

"You F*****S!" Trevor slams his hands together over his head as he feels the fire that had been ebbing in him rise again, and the fire doesn't travel up the rock tube this time, but blows it to pieces as a torrent of fire erupts, literally shaking the ground with its force.

From the now roof-less attic, Corrine can't keep much of what's going on straight, but there's enough fire and energy being thrown around to see at least some of the combat.

There's something scurrying across the lawn towards the house. "CA--B! It-- Chi--" Fire from the corner of her eye. The three witches. Trevor. Sand. And then...

For a moment, she can't see anything but what looks like a rain of glitter through all the fire. The tears are immediate and the noise she makes comes out interrupted and fractured. Even through the disruption, there's no mistaking a sound like that: agony. She's already headed for the stairs.

Caleb sees it too, and fears that Corrine might do something … rash. Rash, and stupid, given her present condition.

Caleb readies himself, and sure as clockwork, Corrine decides to be rash and stupid.
Knowing that one good shot might be enough to destabilize the remaining magic enough that she won’t come back from her next blink, Caleb decides against magically restraining Corrine, and instead opts for a his best physical block.

“No! Corrine, Stop!”

Here’s to hoping that her blinking doesn’t complicate this…

With the steady speed the blinking has reached now, the block connects long enough to succeed to its intention. Corrine almost loses her balance, but takes a few fumbled steps backwards before reasserting her footing.

She doesn't even speak. A hand lashes out, and its message is clear: Get the fuck out of the way.

As the sand settles to the ground, Magique allows herself a smirk. She drops straight down, and the column of fire shoots above her.

She lands on the ground.

Suddenly, Magique feels the ground tremble around her?

Dead? Hell, no. He's merged with the earth before, he knew exactly what to do.

He engulfs Magique in the earth...which suddenly shifts into the form of a hand.

He then rises out of the earth, much like Tefe - all silicoid power and anger. And taller than he's ever been in this form. The magic found in this earth is fueling him as well.

Standing 25 feet tall, he simply stares at Magique. Then, before she can do anything else, he throws her in the general direction of Metropolis, arcing over the grounds until she's out of sight.

He then shrinks down to human size, then reforms. "That won't hold her long."

Trevor brushes himself off as he steps out of the crater he just made, and takes a moment to raise his eyebrows at the destruction.

"Any chance we can end this before they get back? I doubt they'll stick around if the fight's already over."
