On the horizon, smoke rises from the remains of a ruined kingdom. He is here to confront aspects of himself which he has kept buried deep within his newly recovered past.

Batman doesn't have to be told twice. He gives a last look to Etigan, worriedly so, before grabbing Ibn's arm. "Come on."

Crime Alley awaits.

Ibn doesn't argue, he follows his father.

Boston breaks away from Etrigan and bolts after them, coming to the spot that parallels Crime Alley in the LAnd of the Living.

The Ankh flies from Batman's hand, and hovers in mid-air, lit by a golden glow.

"Dis Must be Da Place," says Boston, looking nervously for the oncoming Etrigan behind. He floats to the amulet, and takes it in his bony, spectral hand.

Suddenly, Boston is engulfed in energy, and the air seems to shimmer around him, like heat steaming off a desert, like a mirage. On the other side of the mirage is Crime Alley.

"Go! you two," shouts Boston. "I can't hold this open very long, and I gotta make sure he doesn't get through!"

Batman would express his gratitude but that's not his style. Still, he sends Boston one of his more intense gazes and a nod of gratitude, and then he drags Ibn through.

This is one time Ibn isn't going to argue with his father. He runs through the portal.

The portal closes behind them with an explosion, leaving Boston weak, intangible.

"Well. Wonder if there's a bus?"
