It is deep in the night -- hours have passed since the mages gathered at the nearby pub. Hector Hall has not rested since. Instead, he has studied, prepared wards. This is not a fight Wotan's bringing, it's a war. This is what the night speaks to all of them, when the future whispers frantic warnings ( Read more... )

More mysticism. The whole evening stinks of it. Batman wants to go into the doorway because he wants this damned job over, one way or the other. He isn't afraid to face Death; hell, sometimes it's easier than facing life. But Fate and the others are trying to help, and he needs their assistance to get back with Ibn if he'd lucky enough to go that far with this insane task.

He takes the ankh and tucks it into his utility belt without looking at the object or the man who gave it to him. "Anything else I need to know?" he queries gruffly.

Seems to the Bat that such a suggestion is common sense, but he knows enough about what he might experience to realize something will tempt him. So he nods, commiting that especial rule to the forefront of his memory.

She looks at Batman with an expression that is perhaps the most serious that anyone may have seen on her face.

"You may see people who shouldn't be there. People who are still amongst the living. It will seem real, incredibly real. Keep telling yourself that it's a lie no matter what."

His jaw muscles tightten, but the Dark Knight gives only a single nod to indicate he heard both Zatanna and John. His attention centers on mustering his willpower against whatever he will face.

One last push of energy from Fate, and the door clowd with unearhtly energy.

"And now, my friend, your path is set."

"Thank you," says Batman one last time, giving each of the four a final look. Then he squares his shoulders and goes, a figure of will and determination.

She's done and said as much as she can at the moment. She turns her attention to Fate and puts her will and energies at his disposal. Her hand in his soft, warm but with a strength even she isn't aware of.

Once things are in order she slides her glance to Batman and waits.
