She's there, she's glowing, and she's pissed. With a stare that makes her look little like the cheerful girl that hangs with people like Plaz and Guy Gardner.

"Time to hurt, you shits," Jade snarls as she flies into the fray, full power, fast and hard.

The first wave of horrors are shredded even before they can get close to Jade. She's like a tumult of fury incarnate. More agile and resilient monstrosities however avoid the initial onslaught and close distance.

A large multi armed thing that appears to approximate the appearance of a savage woman from the waist up and a titanic serpent from the waist down grasps Jade by the ankle as noxious fumes belch from her fanged mouth. The smokey gas has a numbing effect that threatens to force sleep upon it's victim. Above, fell shadowy creatures on reptilian wings dive and attempt to rake the lady Lantern with their claws.

"Let her go."

Obsidian's shadows slice through the demonic arms and claws to free his sister. Shadowy beings are nothing to him.

Going into his shadowform, Obsidian flies at the serpent and begins to pummel away.

"Todd..." The fumes are overwhelming, and Jade's eyes start to droop. What was...who...?

Obsidian pulls himself off the monster to return to his sister's side.

"Jenny, hold still..."

The gas is getting to her, so Todd tries out a trick he learned from Shade. Shadows gather around his sister's brilliant green figure in an attempt to expel the gas--and the symptoms--from her body.

He's never tried it on someone besides himself, though. Here's hoping it works.

As Shade's apprentice devotes his full concentration to his sister's plight, he doesn't notice the three scaled figures bearing jagged knives rising up behind him.
Their yellow fangs drip with caustic venom and their multifaceted eyes glow with an unholy malice as they raise their blades for a killing stroke.

Jenny's dopey (dopier?) because of the fumes, but she's not out yet. And her limbs might well be lethargic but she's a Lantern. She can MAKE new ones.

"Fuck off," she mumbles to the three scaled figures, aiming a huge and bright green baseball bat at them. "And die."

The surprise on their otherwise hoary faces would be comical if the situation weren't so dire. All three of the monsters are batted into the distance with a sweep of the emerald Louisville Slugger. Their faint cries quickly fade off into the distance.

Several catlike creatures with flaming claws and eyes begins circling the brother and sister duo, looking for an opportunity.

Still intent on getting this thing out of his sister, Todd pulls the shadows around them into a shield-like bubble, keeping them out of the fray until she's at full strength again.

"Nice aim," he grins to his sister. "Remind me again why you never took up baseball?"

"I suck at sports." Jade clings to her brother, giving her head a little shake. "I feel like I took a big hit from the wrong bong. I'm okay, just gimme a second, 'kay? Go help the others. Find Dad."

The shadow bubble drops, and Obsidian flies away in search of Eclipso.

Jade watches her brother fly off before looking at this creatures that are still lurking. "Okay, kids, let's get real." She sucks in a breath, closes her eyes, and lets the power of the Starheart explode outward. Take that.

For just a second, all the monstrosities around Jade, even those who were hidden in shadow a moment ago, are clearly uplit in the emerald glow of the immanent wavefront exploding from the young Lantern.

Then, in a wave of purifying green fire, they are incinerated and blow away as ash.

Just at that moment, Jade's mind is flooded with an image of her father holding both her and her brother in a loving embrace.
