Do they matter?-those dreams from the pit?...
You can drink and forget and be glad,
And people won't say that you're mad;
For they'll know you've fought for your country
And no one will worry a bit.*
As quickly as it had begun it was over. A lark sang in the silence following the retreat of the aircraft, only to be filled with the sounds of pain from the injured and the stirring of feet moving to help.
This is not the first war fought on their soil, the Gods warred across the island and shattered it in their wake, Darkseid and his parademons did the same. Since leaving the protection of the mists Themyscira has held out it's hand to help and had to rebuild time and time again.
Those who had been unable to leave the island because they were injured are being held prisoner for breaking Themysciran law and setting foot on their soil. Their only real crime is following orders and being born male, it makes Diana want to rage and weep at the steps backwards they have taken over this. That she cannot ask her friends to come stand by her side because they were born with different chromosomes makes her want to hit things, and she is glad for the first time Hyppolyta is not here, it means she does not have to see what has been done here.
For a moment while helping with the injured her hands had begun to revert to clay and crumble apart, but it was only a moment before they were flesh again although the cracks in the clay had left wounds in the flesh. It is a grim omen for things to come.
"Diana!" one of the warriors skids to a halt at her side, "They took the one who helped us, the one in the armor, he is being held prisoner and being sentenced to death!" There are many who don't agree with the orders left by Artemis...Artemis who now cannot be found.
"I will come, go find Io and Donna and tell them we must set the prisoners free." Otherwise this will all start again...
