He was there to meet with Lois and Pieter - today they were doing an ultrasound, and the possibility existed that Pieter could make a gender determination.

The morning papers changed that.   He arrives at the brownstone, looking for his wife primarily but for any of the other JSA regarding what happened with Alan.

As the Last Son of Krypton alights upon the doorstep of the brownstone, the front door happens to be open in just at that moment.

Ted Grant, Rick Tyler and Ma Hunkle all seem to be on their way out, dressed in their civilian attire.
The three look up in surprise and then relief as they encounter the massive frame of superman at the front door.

"Oh my! You startled me. Hello Superman." begins Ma sweetly.
"We were just on our way to drive our to Gotham and visit poor Molly."

Rick raises his hand vaguely in an attempt for a casual 'Hi' behind Ted and Ma. Cat's got his tongue right now. Despite all he's been through with the JSA, Superman still remains an awe inspiring legend in hi mind and it's daunting to be so caught off guard.

"Uh, hi." he manages.

Ted on the other hand, is a long time veteran of the cape and cowl gig. Sure Superman impresses the whiskers off him, hell it's SUPERMAN, but he's much more practiced at the 'cool cat' demeanor.
"Hey big blue."

Clark manages a smile. He knows the occasion is somber, so it's not the 50 kilowatt version that people normally see from him. "Hi everyone. I was actually here to see Dr. Mid-Nite, but I had heard about what happened with Alan. Is Molly OK?"

Wildcat's eyes shift to the ground and to the side.
"No, she's not okay. The hospital reports that she appeared in the ER unconscious and in pretty bad shape. Looks like Alan got her out of there before..well he got her out."

He looks back up to Superman.

"Moving her isn't a good idea yet, so we're keeping her at the hospital in Gotham for right now. We've got folks doing shifts at her bedside in case.. well in case someone shows up to try and finnish the job."
Wildcat looks grim.

Ma looks sad and pats Ted on the shoulder.

Superman looks grim. "Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help." He puts a hand on Wildcat's shoulder. "I mean that."

A look of real gratitude shows in Ted's eyes. He's a rough and tough hero but one of his long time friends most likely died alone at the hand of murderers while his wife lies beaten and unconscious in a hospital. Superman's words nearly make him crack, but he holds on.

"Thanks Superman, that means allot."

And then the hint of steel that made him the champ surfaces and his eyes take a flinty look and he adds.
"We're going to find the sumbitches that did this."

Hourman silently nods in grim agreement.

"Let me know when you do." Kal nods, and wishes them well as he heads inside.
