He's borrowed Garth's comm. There's been a lot of chatter. He wants to know why.

Wally, what the hell is going on?

Blink blink. "Aquaman?!" There's a voice Jesse hasn't heard for a long time on the comm.

Yes, Jesse. What's going on?

"Sorry, didn't mean to speak for Flash. He's getting some help. Are you okay?" Not exactly answering his question, but she hasn't heard from him - no one has - in so long...

There is a bit of dead air, of the type traditionally taken when somebody is counting to ten.

Jesse, Garth's communicator has not stopped beeping for the last day. Please, just tell me what. is. going. on.

Jesse is immediately contrite. "I'm sorry. There was an attack from the Antimatter Universe by the Crime Syndicate when their Luthor stole a lot of equipment from us. The League beat them down but they took Batman captive on the way back to their dimension."

Thank you. What are we doing?

"A strike team's already gone through. Huntress, Hawkgirl and the Atom. Steel is working on creating a portal to get a secondary team through to help the first, though we're not sure who's going and how. Considering these people are US and they know almost everything about us, figuring out how to fool them isn't easy." She pauses before murmuring, "I know you had a fallout with the League, but they really need you right now. We need you."

Did Oracle send out a briefing? I have Garth's portable computer terminal here.

"Yes, sir, she did."

Tap. Taptaptap. Tap. Tap tap.

...it says here the reason their Luthor gave for not asking our help is that he didn't want us prompting the various organizations on his Earth to unify against us, right?

A rescue team against Batman is an attack against the Syndicate. The others probably won't care about that. Are we making sure whatever other attack plans we have are as specific? A general attack could do exactly what Luthor was worried would happen.

Flash finally chimes in, after working on some more of the organization here... realizing that's Aquaman he's hearing.

"That's what's under debate right now. We're looking to distract and disorient, and the question is whether or not attacking the other groups would unify them against us or divide them enough to get 'em scrambling to cover their own turf. Hawkman wants to attack Gotham, figuring Owlman is the real threat to figuring out what we're doing. I'm leaning towards just going after the Panopticron, which would obviously be a trap and what they're expecting... but GIVING them what they expect might be a good way from keeping them from guessing about the team with Luthor."

A pause.

Wally, to distract them you don't have to put anybody at risk.

Jesse turns to look at Wally with some surprise and clear admiration. "That's really smart," she whispers.

Her boyfriend. More than just great abs and axil grease in a t-shirt.

He whispers back. "Seat-of-my-pantsin' it. Watch Arthur drop my house of cards."

Then, to Arthur: "What do you have in mind?"

First rule of war, Wally - fear and anticipation cause reaction, not actual tactics.

If we attack, they know exactly how many we have, how many it will take of theirs to nullify our threat, and we probably can't send enough to get them to commit everybody anyway.

But, for example - if we simply open one-way gates from our Earth to theirs? They don't know what's coming or who we're sending. You follow?
