The laughter... It was driving her crazy. She could almost feel it like a physical thing, driving a nail through her head to meet up with another nail on the other side.
Selina crouches, back in Silent Hill, or some version of it, being hunted. These dreams get so mixed up, so many images that she just wakes up feeling hunted and alone. The laughter is accompanied by objects in the shadows half seen, flashes of light from all sides illuminating what is truly there. Nothing at all.
Suddenly she's walking down a hallway toward a bathroom. She knows what she'll see there. She tries to look away but she can't, the rose colored water in the tub becoming apparent. Don't look, don't look, don't look.
Selina winces as she looks down at her mother, sort of floating there in the redening water. Leaving her to take care of her sister. Leaving her to protect them both from ther father's drunken temper. Leaving her to watch him drink himself to death just a year or so later.
Daddy Dee is very angry. He's wearing the same old off-white wife-beater shirt. "WHERE THE HELL IS MY BEER?"
One second its her father, then the next it is another, more familar man in her life. One that she loves and fears at the same time. A man that lives in a very violent world. Dee has no idea who this man might be, but Selina is one of the few that knows this man's secret. "YOU KNOW YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW MY RULES OR YOU WILL GET THE BELT! BRING ME MY BEER!"
Oh no. No, no, no. She has to get Maggie out of here. No, no, no, no. She starts running, looking for her sister, looking for her to help her hide. She'd rather it be her that get caught, her that get the bruises. As long as it isn't Maggie.
It will be the same years later with her pimp, Stan, leaving her for dead on the street. Except it isn't Maggie she's protecting then.
Selina wakes from the dream, gasping for air. She's totally disoriented for a few moments, getting ready to bolt out of bed. She can't the sheets are tangled around her as she attempts it, choking back the instinctive scream.
