Okay, so it's not like he hasn't done this before. And after spending weeks picking up trash in Keystone's worst areas, he's seen stuff tons scarier than the JSA. Maybe. It's not like they're gonna kill him, either. Superheroes, that goes against the rules. So yeah, it's totally cool

Walking through the Brownstone Billy spies Jakeem.

"Jakeem! Hey what's up?"

He doesn't seem to have noticed Jakeem's extended absence.

Walking down the hall, Terrific comes up on the scene.

"Hi Billy," he says politely as he passes. Then he sees who's here.

"Huh. Jakeem's back."

Then he thinks about it.

"Huh. Should we talk about your security clearance, Jakeem?"

Crap, Terrific. Jakeem sits up straighter. "Uh, yes please, sir."

"Whatever you had the Thunderbolt do, it seems to have wiped you from the 'secure' protocols. Which means we're going to have to issue you a new security card."

He looks annoyed.

[jakeem_thunder]

"Sorry?" Jakeem brushes his hand over his pocket as he stands, finding the weight of the Thunderbolt's pen for reassurance. "Thunderbolt wasn't supposed to make you guys forget me, just keep me out of mind."

[jsaboss]

"I see," says Terrific, folding his arms and staring stoically down at the young here. "And what made you think, exactly, that we'd want to keep you out of mind?"

Yep. He's annoyed. Man is he annoyed. It's like being sent to the principal's office, except the principal can whoop super=powered ass.

[jakeem_thunder]

Oh crap. Jakeem knew it would be bad, but he'd somehow managed to kid himself it wouldn't be quite this bad. "I never thought that. But I knew you guys'd want to help and stuff and I had to do it on my own."

At first he's silent, appraising. He holds the moment a long time. It's not entirely clear he's breathing.

Then he exhales.

"I get that. Is your aunt doing better?"

[jakeem_thunder]

Thank god. 'Relieved' just doesn't come close to how Jakeem's feeling. "She just got back to doing a full-time shift last week. They held her job -- weren't sure they would but the temp who replaced her was crap so we were lucky."

[jsaboss]

"Good to hear," he says, smiling. "Welcome back to the team, Jakeem. You ever pull a stunt with a teammate's mind again, I will personally dropkick you back to Keystone. Clear"

He offers his hand for Jakeem to shake.

[jakeem_thunder]

Amazing how Terrific can make someone feel like scum of the earth yet on top of the world at the same time. Jakeem takes his hand. "Yes sir. I won't. Promise."

[jsaboss]

"Good." He shakes his hand. "You kids have fun, and don't forget to stop by the business office and have your ID reset."

[jakeem_thunder]

"Yessir." Jakeem would never ever forget his cool but the grin he gives Terrific is wide. "It's cool to be back. Been kinda quiet without you guys."

[jakeem_thunder]

"Hot air balloons. Yo, Billy! How's it going?" Jakeem grins, happy to see his friend.

He rolls his eyes at the 'groaner', and smiles.

"It's been real busy. Lots going on." The destruction of the Rock of Eternity and the missing Wizard has him worried, but he's not going to unload that on Jakeem right now. For some reason he hasn't been able to hang out with his buddy for a while. Busy lives and all.

"Hey, feel like getting whipped in some Soul Caliber?"
Yep, Bill's been practicing on his X-Box.

[jakeem_thunder]

"Yeah, same here. School's been whupping my ass lately." Jakeem might fill Billy in on the rest later, but for now it's good just to hang out.

Soul Caliber? That sounds awesome. Jakeem shoots a look at Terrific to check that they're finished, and turns back to Billy with a grin. "Ha! In your dreams, man." Billy's not the only one who's been practicing.
