Holding cells, Titans Tower.

This is hardly what Tara wanted. Expected, yes. Wanted, no. She still felt like she's been hit by a truck. Cyborg packed a wallop with that stunner.

She's on her way to the cells, probably. She hears the wheels of a stretcher and the feel of an inhibitor collar as she's pushed down a corridor...

strangers, terra, jericho, beast boy

As he pushes the cart along, he can't help but both disbelieve Tara's actions, hoping she was unbalanced for some reason, medical or otherwise.

The only thing making him contain her in the cells is his sense of duty and friendship to both the other Titans and the city also, just to be sure, to make everyone safe.

This all weighs heavily on his conscience though.

Especially the collar.

God, the irony. He berated himself, You're treating her like some kind of animal! Complete with cage!

Feign being knocked out still? Naah.

She cracks open a blue eye. "Hey."

He slows down, but doesn't stop, wrestling with both sides, wanting her out of the collar, but also knowing the consequences if he's wrong.

"Tara!"

He can't help feel relieved that her first impulse wasn't to explode and scream at anything and everything.

Nor, in fact, any actions like the reports seemed to indicate.

Reaching forward with a hand to smooth her hair from her cheek, he keeps steering her to their destination.

"How's your head chipmunk?"

She thinks a moment. "There...someone in my head."

Yo, hippie? Hippie?

that's when Tara notices. Oh, hell. Hippie's gone. Gig is up, game over. She needs to haul ass and soon! Only a matter of time before even salad-head figures out she's not his sweet little girlfriend anymore.

Somehow, this causes her to scowl. Why did this feel like a bad thing, other than just survival odds? Maybe it had been a little bit of fun, to be paid attention to, just like it had been before...

She shook her head. Forget it. She had to plan a strategy.

A confused frown comes across his features.

"Someone in your head...? Who...?"

He notices the scowl, watching her actions carefully, resting a comforting hand on her shoulder, hoping she doesn't decide to freak out Nicholson style.

Oh hell. She'll be alright...I've just got to get her to the cell, even if I seal the both of us in...

Why did his mind just flash him a mental image of Tara hacking open the door, poking her face through the newly made gap?

Heeeeeere's Tara...?

"Easy there sweetie. We're just on the way to somewhere where we can both get some rest and relaxation. Maybe watch some T.V together..."

No matter what should faze him, physical or mental he still looks out for her.

"Long as it ain't Space Trek reruns," she jokes.

She relaxes a bit. He's really grown up, and it's making her feel a little left in the dust. He's not the ADD case that was scaring off a string of Dayton's hired tutors anymore.

Was that why she was feeling apprehensive about an escape plan?

"Feels like a bad dream. Some chick who couldn't stop singing hammerin' away at me for the past couple days."

She doesn't look as edgy. Good.

That's my girl. Hold together.

"Singing? Not tunes you know?"

A pause.

"You didn't tune Gwen Stefani into that dome of yours, did you? You'll set her contract timetable off scedule."

He smiles down to her, a touch of amusement shining through.

"I so wish," she says with a groan. "Fuckin Grateful Dead and folk music! Up there with the boulder push, I tell ya."

Man, it would be so easy just to hope that spell isn't about to wear off? I mean, they still think of me as a Titan, right? Even after what I pulled on 'em?

Terra shakes her head again. Oh, don't pull a Slade and go soft at the last minute...

"Grateful Dead?"

The wheels squeak unsteadily as he pushes the stretcher, thinking for a moment.

He can't even recall the last person that he knew who even mentioned them, let alone sung their tunes.

Well, except for that TV special I caught once...

"I know you only really like Gwen and Kurt and that kinda stuff...but who sings folk that you know? Since I've got nothin'."

Not far to the cells now...

"You've got as much of a clue as I do," she comments.

Did they search her before tossing her in? Nope. Looks like she's still got a trick or two. She palms the miniature dart in her hand as they approach.

"Shouldn't I technically be clever, witty and wise then?"

Pushing the stretcher, he looks at Tara with a loving smile as he says it.

"Okay, through this corridor, we'll..."
