Waiting at the Brownstone

Dec 02, 2005 14:00

He's never been good at waiting. Or sitting still for ten minutes at a time, either. But he's got good reason to be fidgety; though he's refrained from walking on the furniture in the room near the OR - so far. Mary has been fussing on and off which has been a brief distraction for him, but not as much as he'd hoped. Jim Gordon's presence is both intimidating (always has been) and calming at the same time. He's never been sure how best to hold a conversation with the older man, so he lapsed after the usual exchanges into anxious silence, checking his cell phone at regular intervals for reasons unknown even to himself.

He takes Mary from her car seat after the first hour has passed, using her as an excuse to pace back and forth with the pretense of calming her, when really, it's her presence calming him. It's only partially successful.

He really, -really- hates waiting.
