Connor rounds the corner, sighing in relief, and flipping the cellular phone shut.

"Good news, guys. JSA has a bead on Dinah - three cheers for Oracle. Rescue mission's going down in a matter of hours. Hopefully, whoever's responsible gets what they have earned."

Ah, yes. Now this little gathering is complete. Though the mention of the JSA and of Oracle do strike Cheshire's particular interest more so than the locating of the missing Canary. It distracts her from her current task and she is certain that Donna is aware that her mind is a fountainhead when it comes to information regarding the superhero community.

Even if she did fail in this mission, the knowledge she could gain as a result would be nothing short of priceless for the proper bidder.

Cheshire pushes the memory of her skirmish with Nightwing before the plague was released and the rage she had felt when he had broken her nose onto Donna.

Perhaps when this little trip has ended, I shall pay him a personal visit...

The threat is there, buy she doesn't attempt to pull his true identity from her mind. Not yet, at least. But it is possible and she wants Donna to know exactly how helpless she is and how she can truly make those she cares about suffer in the long run.

Seeing even an image of her brother perks her up immensely. The knowledge she had a hand in the Plague angers her. As for attempts to make her feel helpless, she is an Amazon. An Amazon is never helpless. She throws out a deliberate taunt.

"You know better. You came here because you want Lian and Roy and can't stand the idea someone else might have a more legitimate claim to both."

Cheshire all but shrugs at the anger that comes from her affiliation with the plague.

It isn't as though I knew why I was sent to collect DNA samples. Shiva does have penchant for being remarkably tight-lipped when she wants to be. You can thus imagine my shock when she took my DNA as well.

Her response to the taunt is a smirk.

Do I? Even if Dark Angel fails to keep you contained, I can still walk away from this with a wonderful amount of personal knowledge about the rest of the Titans and everyone else you know. It isn't as though you can stop me.

As for wanting Lian and Roy for myself, you're one to talk of having a legitimate claim. Using memories of the past and banking on my daughter's fear of me to worm your way into their lives, it is manipulation that seems unbecoming of a
superhero."

There pain there, but...it seems distant.

"Cheshire, I think you know it's not like that. He ran into the afterlife to get me on Lian's suggestion. This is an very old friend with benefits."

For a moment, a wave of bitterness overcomes her. Cheshire doubted that Lian would request such a thing of Roy on her behalf if death did claim-not that she would even want him to do so. But that Donna had taken such a place in her daughter's heart...it upset her more than she would have thought it would.

But it isn't as though you did anything to twist the situation in any manner.

Bothered by her emotions, she starts considering a hurtful method of retaliation.

Surely you do know that it can't last? You've mentioned Roy's reputation yourself. Perhaps he has enjoyed playing the ardent suitor and the idea of "settling down," but eventually, his interest will wander. Of course, no will blame you for anything. But Amazon or not, you're simply another notch to him.

It isn't as though he remained celibate when you were dead after all. Call your relationship what you wish, but we both know that it is truly a matter of convenience.

What Cheshire feels is Donna retreating just a little, securing herself and her focusing her remaining energies into one place.

"He did," is the simple answer. She almost sounds annoyed. "Let me guess. This is where you try to ruin things in the most cliche` way possible."

He pats Cheshire on the shoulder before going back into the bus. "Welcome to the family, Jade. I'm going to go meditate for a while."

He can't quite shake the "something's not right," feeling. He's been off center since...

He can't quite recall just how Jade became his sister-in-law. He knows she is, and he knows the disquiet in his mind dates back to it.

Meditate, Connor. Breathe and accept. The answers will come.

"Greatest challenge? I hardly think I'm anyone's greatest challenge. Maybe a pretty good challenge, but hardly the greatest."

His tan skin turns a very interesting rose color. "Roy!"

Roy likes make Connor blush. Not sure why. But it warms his heart. "I'm trying to help a brother out. Unless there is someone you are interested in? Someone we know?"

He shakes his head, almost like a dog trying to get something out of his ear. "Huh? Roy, what in the world are you talking about?"

"Great, where?"

[connor_hawke]

"One of those things they don't want to say over cell phone, save that it looks like Light's got his hands in it. After what he did to Mrs. Dibny, and after THAT decision almost had the League devouring itself..." Connor sighs. "I agree eith my father, with Canary, with Hal Jordan. It was one vote, Roy." Connor shakes his head. "It was a situation where there was no answers to be had, only losers on every side."
