"No, honey, you stay here and keep the motor running--I'll get Dad," Babs insists to her husband, activating the wheelchair lift before he can demur. Moments later, she is knocking on her father's front door.

"Oh, what the heck. Let's just all go together. I haven't seen Dick in a while anyway and it'll be nice to hear what he's been up to. Why doesn't he just park the car and we'll all go together. Parking's a bit easier here than at the restaurant."

Dick leans over from the driver's seat, and nods a greeting to Barbara's father as the window rolls down.

Evening, Mr. Gordon.

"Hello, Dick. Good to see you. I was telling Babs that parking's easier here so I suggest we leave the car here. If that's ok with you two."

He looks briefly to Barbara, then nods.

Sure.

It only takes a few moments to do just that as he secures the vehicle and joins them on the sidewalk, pulling on his jacket.

"So, anything new and exciting in your lives? The most exciting thing that's happenned to me was finding out that the son of one of my top officers when I was the force is now a student of mine. Getting old is very odd, and I don't recommend it."

Babs exchanges a glance with Dick. "Yeah, there is. But I think you'll want to be sitting down when you hear it, so we'll wait for the restaurant." She starts rolling her wheelchair down the sidewalk. "In less exciting news, Mary is turning herself over."

"Pretty soon she'll be up and walking around. You think it's tough to keep track of her now, just wait till she's walkin' around and putting stuff in her mouth." Gordon looks nostalgic for a moment, "it IS a fun time, though. Ahh, the memories."

Dick grins wryly.

I'd give anything right now just for three solid hours of sleep.
