JSA Brownstone

He wasn't really happy to be here in the home of the JSA but there was some sort of being cleared medically before he left. Normally he'd argue but arguing when his head hurt like this was too much effort so he sat around waiting for the real injured to be taken care of before they let him go ( Read more... )

Selina is eating. She's eating lasagna and it is really, really good. She's more than happy to eat this food. It would be like turning down Alfred's cooking but even still... She could use a drink as well.

He feels about like he looks, like it's the worst hangover of his life and the lightbulbs are all mini novas.

"All stitched up pretty kitty? Ready t'head back on your streets soon I bet."

"You have got to stop calling me that." Selina rolls her head toward him and then nods, "Yeah. My stitches are driving me crazy."

He holds up his hands.

"Don't hit me, it's quite probably my head will explode on you an we don't want t'clean up the mess."

He toys with a cigarette that he hasn't lit.

"You still have somethin' of mine."

The darkish form of Dr. Mid-Nite soon emerges with a small datapad.

"Mr. Constantine?"

"You just missed him." Selina smiles at the doctor as he comes in, "I think he let himself out the side door."

His lips purse slightly, and he nods. "Ah. One of those. Good thing he was cleared to go, or else I'd have to go chase him down. I imagine he's very elusive."

A look up to her. "How are you feeling, Ms. Kyle?"

"I've been better. My ankle hurts and my stiches itch like mad." Selina smiles toward the doctor.

Reality isn't supposed to work like this. Demon assasinins, vampires, hybrid science/magic engineered plagues, Greek Gods, and now reality appearing to melt like candle wax and leaving gaps for people who have already had way too much to deal with slipping through the holes into other places.

Fuck this. Stick to what makes sense. Mathematical equations....chemical bonding...medicine and healing.

She's doing what she can to wander around the strangers and heroes she barely knows. They're all just trauma cases right now. All they can be to her fatigued mind...

...And hell, she didn't live through the fucking horror movie these guys did...

Dr. Mid-Nite didn't either... and listening to Selina's retelling of the story is chilling.

"Attacks from hideous zombie things are all the more reason to doublecheck for infection on your scars. No telling what the beasts might've been carrying under their fingernails."

He glances over to his relatively new apprentice in all this. "Excellent work on the cast, Tara. It should heal up nicely."

He steps over to Selina and behind her, gently parting the already parted back of the gown to look over the huge, hastily stitched gash on her side, then waves Tara over.

"This is good field work, but we're not in the field anymore. Let me show you what I've developed to help deep lacerations heal more quickly, yet still properly..."

Selina smiles at them both, seeming amused that she's become a medical study all of a sudden. "Feel free. I'm apparently not going anywhere for a little bit. She stretches out and does her best to look comfortable. Not a simple thing in the situation she's in. Especially since the stitches don't like her stretching much at all.

Tara notices the "studying back," look.

"Sorry, m'am. I am doing my internship here." A slight pause. "Not like there's a lot of time to go to a hospital or a way to keep a secret identity while you're there." She extends a hand. "Green Shield or Tara. Whichever."

"He's recovering," Tara notes. "He'd do it a lot faster if he'd try to be a bit more still, but it's like hearding c-" Tara cuts herself off. "You'll probably have better luck. Maybe you could ask him what type of food he'd like as a start. As of tonight, we're putting him back on solid food. If I ask him, he'll likely give me some stoic line about being able to cope with anything, I'll bet. I think he's earned a happy surprise and I could use a kitchen challenge after all this."

"I'll see what I can get for you. I don't know that I'll have much better luck than you." Selina smiles softly as she makes her way to the area where she's going to get changed.

Dr. Mid-Nite finishes up his initial analysis - no reason to detain her.

"I'll go see if our other cat-like patient is awake yet. The man has shown utterly remarkable resiliency. There's something uniquely... enhanced, I suppose is the word, about him. It's really quite fascinating."

He steps away and over into the next room, where T'Challa and Natasha have been resting.

"I'll meet you over there once I'm dressed."

Selina chuckles softly as she hobbles.
