Re: If we fail.
As you know, my illness has advanced. I've lost little of my abstract reasoning ability, but a good deal of my scientific knowledge. Dox has re-assigned me to nurse duty, which is a sound call.
I'm going to cut straight to the chase. Between Ibn Head's efforts on the ground and our work up here, we're down to the last, desperate measures here. There are too many "ifs" in our matrix, and we know it. Any one piece falls short, and we lose. This is not fatalism -- We need to begin making arrangements for the possibility.
A good portion of humanity is going to survive, but if Gardner is any indication, then they will survive in a primitive, vulnerable state. This does not mean, however, that the work of the Justice League and the Justice Society has ended. There are still a handful of heroes who have proved immune to the virus -- Alan Scott, Firebrand, Dr. Fate, Zauriel, even Black Adam. They must be prepared to gather together to defend a vulnerable humanity from extraterrestrial and interdimensional forces that would seek to exploit Earth's vulnerbility. Those forces will be LEGION.
I hope for the best. I really do. But now we need to plan ahead, in case we fail, because win or lose, the Eearth will still need defending.
Sincerely,
Micahel Holt
