What was that? She looked at the strangers here and envied the fact that they would always be strangers without Kevin here. She felt this silly sort of rage at those who had loved ones to put arms around while she stood alone. There was no family in her life, Sonia couldn't be reached, and Kathy had to stay away from everyone's good.

And if desperation and pride weren't the reasons for the uniform, what were? A love for the ailing city that she blamed for Kevin's imprisonment and subsequent death? He loved the city. Kathy, Bruce, and Sonia loved the city. She tried to see it through thier eyes - and the eyes of a Bat. She wasn't so sure about how she felt about it anymore.

She envied the Bat for acting like he owned the damned city and had enough moxie to pull it off.
She envied Kathy's ability to still go out there and do something when she'd been zapped of any energy to do anything since Bane's escape.
She still envied the people here who had someone to talk to openly.
She envied the fact that there was a normal life to be had out there, since these last 5 years had changed her to the point that she knew she couldn't just go back to being a run-of-the-mill tech geek.
Love is never tired of waiting;
Waiting for what, exactly? For another one of these people to get gunned down or framed?
Well wishers she had no idea about filed past her at the end. She booked a place for them to sit and talk. She didn't feel like talking. She felt like hitting something hard. She felt like making sure there were no more Kevin's in this city - ever. She felt like throwing a pinata party with the Birdman in as public of place as possible.
