Dr. Nancy Saunders poured herself a glass of gin fromthe hotel room's minibar. She's been here for weeks, and wants nothing more than to get back to Savannah, away from Gotham.
Weeks ago, one of the circle's operative disappeared investigating the use of the organizations codes at Arkham Asylum. Or maybe he was the one using them. In any case, he was gone, as though he never existed.
She wanted to hit the panic button right then. This thing was getting too hot. But no one listened to her, and now Danette Reilly was missing, and Jefferson Pierce hospitalized.
They're being targeted. All 23 of them. She sits down at the computer, and begins a status check. No one's online, people are lying low, hiding behind their security forces and body guards. She didn'thave those things. She's not wealthy and powerful, she just knows things the others need -- she understands genetics, maybe more than anyone else on Earth. Ted Kord's still out there somewhere, and Joshua Tsing's answering his phone, but Tanner Kae -- her boss, the man who brough her into the circle -- He's missing, too. Ever since earlier today. No word, just gone.
She checks the date stream -- the automatic functions are rolling, but no one's manually updated a file since Tanner theorized a membership shift in the JLA.
