The Gala, the Party's Over
The crowd has thinned, and what guest remain are buzzing about the sudden appearance of the Elongated Man. Jeff passes notes to Ted and Sue, telling them where to meet with Jordan and other members of the circle the next day.
He's tired, but they've done good work here. He still feels a sense of foreboding, though, and he wishes he could put his finger on it.
That's when he notices what feels like a ssolid blow to the chest, but nothing's hit him. He clutches at his ribs, and stumbles.
Then he realizes what's happening ... he's having a heart attack. That shouldn't happen -- he's an extremely healthy man in his forties. He's too young. He's too strong.
He collpases on the floor, and all is blackness.
