The gala continues to unfold, a glorious lobster dinner giving way to more dancing and small talk. Many checks have been signed over to charity. Many political and business deals have been brokered, over drinks. Bono has been cajoled into singing "With or Without You" with the band. Jeff would've found "Bloody Sunday" more appropriate, but then, he doubts most in the audience would have taken it well.
Sometimes he just keeps his jokes to himself.
Jeff has fallen to the sidelines of the party, as he often does at these things -- just watching people. He wished he could be more chipper, more social. He looks across the room at Bruce Wayne, and marvels at how well the man can fall in and out of roles, and really, Jeff's not entirely convinced that the Wayne persona is entirely an act. But that's just personal opinion. Far as Jeff's concerned, the man's a brother to him, and he wonders what's going on insde his head. He's Batman. He's got to have figured out something's up with him, Sue and Ted. Maybe he's just tacitly agreeing to stay out of it, a "you mind your business, I'll mind mine" sort of deal. Whatever. Sooner or later, he and Bruce should talk. Jeff suspects that the Bat needs someone else who's not entirely pissed at him. Another Outsider.
Sue and Ted are doing well -- don't know what the deal is with the blond chick, but she served to draw Ted out of his shell and distract from them a bit, oddly enough. Not as much as Ibn and Diana, though. Sue seemed to know something about the man, but wasn't saying. That's cool, for now, but there's storm clouds over that boy's head, and Jeff can see them loud and clear.
The whole room is charged with electricity, and he would know. He's not sure what but a lot of wires crossed here. He can feel it. There was a whole lot of shifting in the world going on, and not just because the charity made bank. He'd be happier if he hadn't recognized Jason Blood in the crowd. He doesn't know the man well, but he doesn't turn up places by chance.
Sue and Ted did well. Jordan liked them -- of course, with Jordan, it's hard to tell. He always seems to like everybody. Best not to forget he rns a multinational oil company. Jeff's convinced he's a good guy, but he also knows he's tough as steel.
Ted's going to LOVE his computer monitor.
