After all of the dates are done

Jan 18, 2009 11:00

Selina has finsihed her date with Oliver Queen and must now get to work. It was a lovely dinner but, truly, she had other things she needed to get done this evening. The money, certainly, for getting it finished this evening was an incentive but not as much as bringing the end of this whole thing about ( Read more... )

Probably no surprise that when Selina awakens, Bruce isn't there. A damp towel is on the floor of the bathroom and the robe tossed over the bedpost, but that's it.

Waking up is more of a gradual thing this morning than it has been in awhile. While she isn't entirely surprised that Bruce isn't here, she does at least allow herself to admit that she would have liked him to have been there. Reaching up, she scratches her head, ruffling her hair further than it is already.

"Nnnnnn." Stretching, she's in no specific hurry to get out of bed just yet. Right here, right now, she doesn't have any problems.

There is a distinct smell of muffins wafting to her from just outside the door.

Muffins.

That might be enough to actually get her to get out of bed, even if she is wearing Bruce's clothes and feeling generally scruffy.

Maybe.

A gentle clink heralds the scent of freshly brewed tea. Darjeeling, to be precise.

Okay, okay.

Selina pulls herself out of bed and rummages around. She took most of her stuff with her when she left and she wasn't expecting to be here, so she doesn't really have much to change into. Alfred won't say anything about being shabbily dressed but it doesn't mean she won't feel that way. After settlign on Bruce's abandoned robe, she makes her way into the world - toward the muffins.

In the sitting room outside the bedchamber, she sees Alfred returning a silver teapot to its appropriate place on the tray, having just filled a Royal Albert Moonlight Rose cup. "Madam," he greets her, inclining his head to exactly the correct degree.

"Alfred. You didn't have to bring me breakfast."

The robe is pulled more tightly around her as she moves to sit down. Not the first time they've had this conversation and doubtful it will be the last.

"Would you have preferred another meal, madam?" he deadpans.

"Not specifically, no. I am perfectly capable of going to the kitchen and making my own meals." The tone is light, less of the acerbic toone that used to be there.

"Assuredly so, madam." Left unspoken is that while the kitchen, technically, is in the possession of Bruce Wayne and will be passed on to his heirs and assigns, it is most definitely Alfred Pennyworth's territory, and none shall pass its threshold without his permission.

He finishes arranging breakfast before her and takes a step back. "Will that be all, Miss Selina?"

"I hope not, Alfred. Wouldn't want you to think that I only want you around to serve me breakfast. There are plenty of chairs."

Selina picks up the tea cup, inhaling the scent before taking a drink.

"Indeed there are." However, he does not sit, merely standing at a kind of parade rest. Although one does not normally stand at parade rest with such a twinkle in one's eye, does one?

"I wouldn't mind if you'd like to sit in one of them and join me for a cup of tea." Selina smiles toward him before looking at the food that's been prepared.

"I wouldn't dream of refusing such an invitation." He perches on the edge of a chair and pours himself a cup of tea. "I do hope you enjoy the variety of teacakes. I was uncertain if you would prefer carrot, banana-pecan, or blueberry this morning, and felt an assortment should be offered."

"An assortment, Alfred. You're amazing." Selina reaches out for one of the banana-pecan muffins. She suddenly feels like she might, perhaps, be some sort of a fairy princess.
