Czonka Crime Scene

Mar 31, 2005 12:57

Detectives Marcus Driver and Josephine (Josie Mac) MacDonald:

"Sawyer dragged me out of bed for this?" Driver comments as Josie parks their squad car.

She just sort of shakes her head and watches him down the rest of his coffee. "Let me know when you're done complaining. I'll be looking at the crime scene."

They both get out of the car at the same time.

"It's just with the weapon bust and everything, you'd think we'd get something better to do than figuring out who killed the latest Joker knock-off."

They walk briskly past photographers, flashing badges to the new cop guarding the entrance to the crime scene.

"Who was here first?" He asks as he begins taking notes.

A few officers wanders over. He knows most of them. Good cops.

Has anything been moved?" Josie asks.

They shake their heads and describe what they saw when they arrived. He trusts his partner to take care of those details and moves closer to the body. It doesn't look any better closer-up.

They don't stop until they're near the body. Which is of course a mess. Chewed, mangled. Marcus is glad he didn't eat anything though it's not as bad as what happened--

He grits his teeth a little and gets back to business.

Photographs are still being taken of the body. He asks if the footprints have already been cast and is glad to find they have been. He doesn't appreciate the hostile, impatient attitude the woman gives him though. It's not like he had Josie drive around the block an extra couple of times before they got here. But he's not going to start with her. He's here, he's caffinated and he's just thankful that Corrigan's not.

He looks around to make sure before he notices the little gifts that have also been left behind.

"This is cute."

Josie thanks the officers and walks over to him. She makes a face. "Isn't it though?"

A book with a torn binding. Pages are probably missing. Some plant in a pot. Ivy, no doubt. He rolls his eyes then regards the plastic bag complete with dead baby alligator distastefully. Then the dirty feather. Then a fifty-cent piece, scratched side up.

Anyone who works in Gotham knows what most of this means.

"Well, most of this is going to have to get processed," He sighs. If Corrigan so much as touches any of this when it gets brought in, well, either he'll break every bone in his body or ask Montoya to. Marcus is careful not to say anything about it to his partner though before he continues.

"We need to know what these bite marks are from and if there's finger prints. Most of this" Points to the pot, book and junk. "seems--"

"Misleading? Superfluous?"

"At best."

Josie smirks. "So we get to figure out who baffled the Baffler? I thought April Fool's Day was tomorrow."

"Try telling that to Czonka."
