... in San Francisco

The City by the Bay is no better off than New York or Philadelphia. Brainiac's plan with this city isn't quite so clean-cut as the prior two... Metallo and his army of replicants appear in San Francisco split into two groups, one on the Golden Gate Bridge, and the other on the shore of Alcatraz ( Read more... )

"Die. Die." The Jason Todd replicant repeatedly smashes a prison guard into the bars of a cell, the prisoner himself cowering as the mulched up corpse ends up being forced through the cracks.

Letting go, as there's no longer much left to hold onto, the replicant seeks out new prey.

From high over Alcatraz, a starbolt strikes a replicant.

The replicant is programmed to feel the pain of its underlings. "You two, out there. Take weapons."

Two Flamebird replicants leave the prison and start firing wildly into the sky with prison issue automatic pistols, hoping to hit the Tamarean.

Small armsfire. She dodges much of the barrage, ignores the rest, and fires at the Flamebirds.

X'hal, guide my aim-- It is an effort to adjust the strength of her starbolts, but even in her battle rage she can't bring herself to try lethal shots against an enemy that looks like her teammates. Not after seeing Zachary Zatara lash out with hellfire at Red Robin.

One of the Flamebirds crashes to the ground, buzzing, but the second somehow avoids the barrage of starbolts. Strengthened by the sight of her sister falling, she picks up the downed Flamebird's gun and fires them both in the air at Starfire. "Grrraaaaaaagghhh!!"

Sighting along her outstretched arm, she fires off another starbolt, this one aimed to melt the muzzles of the replicant's automatic pistols.

The replicant screams as the gun melt in her hands, rendering both the weapons and short-circuiting whatever may have been powering her arms. Not having a purpose now that her killing function is disabled, she hurls herself off of Alcatraz and into the water.

Starfire shudders at the sight, then circles over the water, searching for any prisoners trying to escape in the confusion.

Although it takes a good few minutes to spot a runaway, Starfire is able to spot a frantically paddling Hyena being pursued by a fast-swimming Huntress replicant.

Swooping lower, she fires a warning shot near the Huntress-replicant's right shoulder, then accelerates to keep pace with Hyena.

The warning shot does little to dissuade the Huntress copy from its pursuit, but it is in no position to fire back while in the San Francisco bay. Instead it speeds up, and grabs hold of Hyena's leg.

Aiming carefully, Starfire sends another starbolt to the Huntress' legs. "Stop!" she shouts, swooping down to make her own grab for Hyena.

"Rrrarrr!!" Hyena is dragged from the briney water, with the replicant attached to his legs. Madly, he thrashes at the replicant, trying to dislodge it, but the Huntress replicant actually sinks teeth into the villain's thigh.

"X'hal!" Starfire swears. She begins to fly faster, firing again at the Huntress replicant.

Before the starbolt even connects, the replicant stops struggling with Hyena. It just... stops. A low buzzing can be heard over Hyena's moaning, but aside from that, the replicant seems pacified.
