Opal City Blues

The Bug glides silently through the sky, approaching a warehouse address discovered from leftover technology recovered from an android copy of the Toyman. An android constructed with Coluan technology, as a matter of fact ( Read more... )

"Damn straight I am," Fire said, peering out the window.

"Oh yes. " Tora practically has her nose pressed up against the glass, looking out at the scenery below.

He chuckles.

"All right, then. Welcome, ladies, to the fabulous Opal City. I used to come here all the time to pick up rare Justice Society collectibles.."

With the press of a button, a small hatch opens in the side of the Bug as it sets down in an empty lot near the warehouse.

"Be careful, Brainiac is a tricky sort."

Watching from behind a one-way window, the Jason Todd replicant sneers and then turns to its masters. "Looks like Brainiac was wrong. They worked it out. I'll send the message, and you do what you have to do." He walks up the steel stairs towards one of the little offices and goes inside to operate a computer.

Tora climbs through the hatch and stretches once she's free, shaking out any stiffness in her limbs. She remains quiet for the time being, scanning the surrounding areas for any movement, and waits for the others to join her.

Blue Beetle slips out of the craft, likewise looking for obvious signs of danger.

"I got this location from a chip - it was buried there, like a puzzle. So I'm guess that Brainiac will know we're here. Fortunately, I have prepared some things for whatever security system we find that should keep him from seeing exactly what we're doing inside.."

The replicant sends the message on the computer, and then picks up the sledgehammer propped againsst the desk. He lifts it, and then brings it down with a smack on the hard-drive. He then brings it down again. And again. "No traces." He then pours a small amount of gasoline in the shattered case, and throws a match inside.

Leaving the office, he rests his hands on the balcony. "They'll come in soon. Assume positions."

"What are we looking for, Ted?" Fire asks, flying as soon as she gets out of the really friggin' cool robot.

"Clues, maybe Brainiac himself.. possibly some kind of replicant factory. Or a trap. It's a toss-up."

He advances to the entrance, producing a small set of tools and beginning to work on the security system.

"Like I said, I expect he knows we're here, but we can at least give him something else to watch.."

Indeed, in short order, he has the audio and visual sensors overridden - focusing on something else. For some reason, he snickers as he finishes up.

Something in the replicant's mind switches, and with a grimace he crushes the railing he's holding on to. "Our security systems are down. Clearly we have a joker. I will be in the backrooms working on our security, which means you will be dealing with our visitors. We should not disappoint Brainiac." He runs across the balcony and into the back of the warehouse.

"Is that... Rick Astley?" With a scream of pleasure and pain, Livewire unleashes a bolt of lightning at the security monitor just inside the warehouse. "I was a DJ. I know good music. That is not good music." Her eyes crackle and she forces enough electricity into the monitor so that it melts.

"You hang back, and I'll deal with these morons." She generates balls of electricity in her hands, and stands, poised to unload them at whoever walks into the warehouse.

Fire is the first one in, flying up to the ceiling to check for any traps that are rigged there.

As Fire flies through the plushly designed lobby and toward the ceiling of the factory floor, Livewire steps out of her hiding place of one of the large ice cream models. Behind Fire, and with her arms bathed in electricity, she looks up at the hero. "Too easy."

"Too easy is right."

Livewire gets hit with snow, focused into a hard stream of ice cold pellets, which starts at her feet and moves up as Ice flies closer.

"I like this place -- feels kind of like a place where I could hang out."

"Ach!" Her jolt of electricity flies wildly into the factory. Instead of hitting Fire, it strikes one of the large metal mixers, and flows into the ground. As she gets repeatedly blasted by the hard pellets, she slowly turns on Ice, impeded by her increasingly frozen feet, electricity crackling in her eyes. "You really shouldn't have done that. Good conductor though..." Lightning dances between her fingers and she fires into the ground, in the direction of Ice.

Leaving the storage area behind the mixers, and entering the factory floor space Parasite looks up to see Fire checking the ceiling. He then sees the lightning bolt that flies into the mixer.

He creeps up the steel staircase towards the offices, and closer to the ceiling. Thanks to a gift Brainiac had given him who was currently in the storage area, Parasite was currently feeling particularly strong. "Hyuh, hyuh, hyuh..." Picking up a large girder with ease, he stands up straight and launches it directly towards Fire.
