What do you do when it's not a dream?

Finally, Guy and Ted left Bea's apartment, leaving the two girls to sleep. The next morning, Tora woke up to the smell of peppers, eggs, ham, and toast.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," Bea teases her friend. "You ready for some real food?"

ice, fire

"Mmmm, it smells so good." Tora yawns widely and runs a hand through her hair, which does nothing to keep it from sticking out every which way.

"Well, I was going to make you some dried reindeer and hard tack, but I'm fresh out. I'm glad you can manage with this."

Making a face at the thought of that, Tora arranges herself in a chair and waits with her hands folded in front of her at the table.

"So what are we doing today?"

"Well, that all depends on you. We could definitely go clothes shopping and get you stuff in your style - or you can keep borrowing my clothes, as I have a metric ton of them and they never get worn anyway. We could try to hook up with Vixen and get you a couple of temp jobs, so you can get some cash - I have plenty right now, but that's a pretty new development. We could go visit some old friends - I know Ralph and Sue would love to see you. They have a baby.. her name's Alannah, I think.. I was supposed to babysit her but things came up. We could just go take in a film. We could even be schmoos and stay in and watch a film. The world is your oyster, babe."

"A baby? Ralph and Sue had a baby? Oh..." Tora looks down at the table, fingers fidgeting.

"There's so much to catch up on. And do. I don't want to sit in a movie theatre. Not when there are people to see, and things to get set up, and oh..." She appears to be a little overwhelmed by the possibilities, but in a good way.

"It's ok, Tora." Bea says with a wink. "It's not like Christmas, where you only get one day. You're back. You get to do whatever you want." She finishes the eggs and divides them onto two plates. "I'm just trying to give you options. I could just sit around and tell you what to do.." She winks at her best friend as she says the last.

As she starts tucking into her eggs, Tora shakes her head.

"Oi strustsh our..." Swallowing, she continues. "I trust your judgement, Bea. We could go shopping, though your clothes are beautiful. Maybe get some coffee?"

"We could go do that," Bea says, flicking on the radio for some background noise.

"Earlier today Chemo attacked Metropolis, causing millions of dollars in collateral damage and wounding and/or killing hundreds, maybe thousands of people. The complete report will come later this afternoon.."

Bea jerks. "What?" She looks at Tora. "We'd better call Ted and see what's going on.."

Tora has sat up a little straighter, a surprised look on her face. It's been awhile since she's had to do the hero gig, but... it's inevitable, right?

"If you mean us going to help those poor people along with calling Ted, then yes."

Bea pulls her hair back into a ponytail. "No, I thought maybe Ted would show us his shiny robot today." She says, and then smiles to show she's joking. "I just figure that of everyone, Ted would know what's going on. Or we could just start flying towards Metropolis.."

"But I like robots..." Tora smiles back.

"Can we do both at the same time?"

"Well, flying plays merry hell with cell-phone reception, but I suppose we could try," She says, pulling out her Motorola Razr and flipping it open.
