'Twas the Night Before Christmas...

Most people scoff at the idea of a real Santa Claus. There simply is no way that an immortal elderly-appearing fat-man could travel the world in one night, giving gifts to good boys and girls all over the planet in a flying sleigh pulled by reindeer... and that's even before one considers the difficulties in spying on all the children of the world ( Read more... )

At the Clocktower, home to the Graysons, there's no shortage of presents under their tree - which is almost bereft of ornament at its bottom third, thanks to safety concerns and the antics of a certain calico cat.

Most of those presents are for Mary; possibly the single most spoiled rotten child on the East Coast. From her parents, at least, she'll be receiving among other things, a battery operated car, decked out in blue, yellow and black. No traditional colors for this kid.

Barbara has three long boxes. Two contain dresses. The third contains Italian leather handmade shoes to go with both.

At Wayne Manor, more presents await their recipients under the lavishly decorated tree: Tim will find a brand new Panasonic Toughbook laptop, specifically designed to take a fall and keep going.

Alfred receives a collection of silk ties, with a tasteful rendition of his military company's insignia.

Bruce has a couple of gifts - one's specifically from Dick: A cane for Grandpa. Just to mess with his head. Mary's contribution involves a fingerpainted piece of art.

Selina's is a large cat condo for her resident felines, along with a donation to the big cat rescue she was gifted last year.

Jason, when he finds it in himself to drop by again, gets a laptop similar to Tim's, albeit with a few extra mods - namely, a bulletproof casing.

Leslie's clinic will be once more overrun with flowers and supplies; and Leslie herself will receive reservations - for two - at a local Gotham restaurant known to be favored by a certain Wayne Manor employee.

Not all of the presents under the Graysons' tree are for Mary, or even for Barbara.

The snowboard's shape can't be disguised even with wrapping paper, though the matching snowgear is in a more anonymous box.

There is, however, nothing anonymous, bland, or disguised about the note that accompanies it.
