Good Intentions

He wakes up, sort of, to the sounds he always hears. The screams, the promises that 'he don't mean it, he's just drunk' are quickly drowned out by the sounds from below. The sounds of the ghettoes. Traffic, people, shouts ( Read more... )

"I just got back on base. Give me a few, Chimp." Sand immediately bolts to ops...they're right. Deserted.

A few buttons, a lock-on, and the trio are sent immediately to the medlab. Sand also sends out a code red to the remainder of the team.

A minute or two later, Sand walks into the medlab. "I'm having the rest of the team meet in he...dear god." He takes one look at Travis and visibly flinches.

He looks a little lost...Tara was the team medic. And she's not here. "The transporter had been used a little while ago...by Tara. It took her to Idaho. I have no idea where everyone else is..."

"We have her exact coordinates?" Chimp's already starting a list of possible reasons and locations.

Travis still looks like hell, but the presence is there. He has something to fight for now, so the ring is working overtime to patch him together while he's relatively sedate.
He avoids any kind of sedatives or painkillers - nice as it'd be, he's fairly sure that there'd be bigger problems if he's not fully with it and fighting. At the very least though, he's more than happy to sit down, his 'body cast' effect keeping him from bleeding on anything, focusing everything he has on being in shape enough to fight for Tara when the time comes.

He doesn't bother to share with Sand what he told Chimp - he's not sure he expects to last much beyond that.

Brainwave walks into the medlab, followed by Tefe', by all appearances. He's in street clothes - somewhat damp.

"Got here as soon as we...holy hell."

He looks toward Tefe'

She on the other hand is wearing a spare shirt. They are all familiar enough by now to know the signs of a hastily donned body for Tefe.

She rushes forward to lay her hands against bare skin and get a feel for the damage she's facing. "He should be dead." There are broken bones, perforated organs, massive internal bleeding along with a subdural bleed that's should have him unconscious. Overlaying it all is the feel of a dim green glow, his ring is keeping him alive somehow even with all this damage.

Lovely thing about the Guardians. they don't trust chaotic forces like magic or the green. The ring has enough to worry about that it doesn't block off everything. Tefe is able to dull the pain without anything that will slow him down or dull his will, and the healing on the worst of the damage is accelerated, but it appears the two versions aren't compatible, and the one sustaining his life doesn't seem to be allowing the magical healing to take anywhere near full hold.
"Should be... not until Tara is safe though." he replies, conserving as much energy as he can for healing and the fight to come while he waits for news on their location.

"Thanks Tefe. That feels a lot better."

"Your ring...I can't fix more it's fighting me." She steps back still watching him and assessing damage.

He nods quietly. "It would. I touched the green a little, through the transformed Guy Gardner, during the plague. The rings... the people who made the rings, don't trust it. You can produce stimulants, right? If its not having to help keep me awake too, it can patch me up faster."

That's easier, stimulation of his glands and natural stimulants is the first step. The second is to retrieve something from the multitude of plants she has everywhere around the base and adjust it with her own abilities to make it do what she needs it to. It's something her father did for her mother many times.

"Eat this, just a small bite at a time, it will help keep your natural system more stimulated and flush out the toxins the ring healing is releasing into your body." It looks like a small squash but it's woody like a root.

"Just don't overdo it or you'll start to hallucinate."

Sand had walked out of the room during the exchange, but had returned shortly. "Had exact coordinates...but she's not there anymore, as I suspected. Had one eyewitness that didn't see her, but said someone who looked like her...only younger." He sighed.

"Crystal. Fuckaduck."

Travis follows Tefe's instructions, happy for anything that means one less distraction right now. the tighter his focus, the easier it is to put all his will towards that.
"Crystal... that would explain why she'd leave monitor duty, and quickly."

Sand bristles a bit. He's going to have to talk with her when this is over...and she's home safe. NEVER go after someone without backup. NEVER. Especially someone you know's gunning for you.

Still, it was family. It's forgivable.

"Without any sort of followable trail in the real world, we're gonna need our mages to..."

A minute pop accompanies the sudden appearance of Caleb and Corrine. Dr. Zukov's anticipation is immediately broken by the sight of Travis, but only for a moment. Somehow, just now, even that unwelcome sight can't curb his enthusiasm for long.

"I'm nearly certain we know where Phillip D'Aubigne is," he wastes no time announcing, eager eyes locked on Sand. "I recommend we move, in force, to confirm this."

She rolls her eyes minutely at him. "And we got the call, sorry we're--"

No, Corrine isn't talking about the other thing just this second. She's already over and looking at Travis, shoving off the three printed tracks of maps to Caleb on her way by. "What happened to you? Are you okay?" No, nevermind! She looks up at Tefe, alarmed. "Is he okay?"

"I'll confirm for another reason." Sand said. "They have Tara. Crystal called here and baited her into a trap. And I'm dead certain where they are, Phillip is...and vice versa."

"The flip is, they'll know we're coming...and we can't surprise them this time with force like we did the last."

He looks at Corrine. "And I can guarantee he'll be waiting for you to show up."
