He wakes up, sort of, to the sounds he always hears. The screams, the promises that 'he don't mean it, he's just drunk' are quickly drowned out by the sounds from below. The sounds of the ghettoes. Traffic, people, shouts

Meanwhile

She's watching the base tonight and working on her aim. Her "shield," name gave her an idea she she's been trying to aim and otherwise work a round shield/desk to see if it's a doable thing. As the rhythm of the ricochets fills the room she finds herself singing...

"Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one..."

And as the song ends, she can hear Travis's laughter about her, lab tables, and sex from years ago echo as clearly as if he was standing behind her watching her confusion.

Speaking of confusion, she had so much more data, but...not context. She was trying to sort it out, but Chimp's trip. It was why she opted out of the team meeting. Everything from the cry of the baby she placed in the upscale Miami 'burb to the smell of the urine and Travis's entire medical file was all there but relating it to how and why he did what he did with the Chimp? It was all data, and the only time she was good a diagnosing a problem was when emergencies of a life and death nature created the denominator.

But it's not window dressing.

That's when her cell phone rings - with "Dancing in the Dark."

"Crystal?"

"Tara..." he voice sounds small and weak and there are traffic sounds in the background. "Tara, I'm sorry...so sorry. I need help."

One the run apparently and needing help. She wants to fix this, bring her home. Her folks -

Her focus becomes laser sharp. "Where are you?"

She's already loading up and running for the transporter. "and are you alone?"

"In Idaho. A truck stop off I-90." A beat as she starts crying. "N-No one here. tara, oh sis it was awful! Louis -"

She's at the teleporter. Tara to the rescue. She'll make this right. The others are busy and, besides, Crystal is her sister.

"Shhh...Be there in 60 seconds."

She clicks off the phone.

Crystal hangs up and turns. "Laughing sounds just like crying when you put your hand in front of your face, see?"

Louis laughs lightly, clapping theatrically. Crystal's learned well. "Absolutely, my sweet. You were brilliant."

He takes a moment to move her hand away and plant a kiss. "Always are."

Niiiice. She giggles a little girlishly. Breaking him out of that holding pen for his trial was so easy. Someone missed the memo about him being able to take on the Outsiders.

"She'll totally come running. Always does..." She wraps her arms around him. "Think the hippie guy we left looking like you is at your trail screwing it up for himself yet?"

"Who cares?" he answers honestly. Even if they found out it really wasn't him, it's too late as far as Louis is concerned. He's here and they weren't going to keep him in bars for long.

He grabs Crystal a little rough about the hips for another kiss. "Your man's back in town, all thanks to you, baby. You picked perfect timing. Dad's too arrogant to say it but we couldn't do this without you." He looks up, shifting to business. "Closing on show-time, baby-cakes."
