The last time that Mari Jiwe McCabe and Ben Turner had gotten together, it had been by coincidence, simple and pure.
This time, it was no accident that the two former lovers were meeting again for another date.
If I really want to be honest and call it that, Mari mused to herself as she waited outside a nightclub called Lapis Lounge.
She'd called Ben up a few nights ago to ask him to meet her in New York City, just for dinner. Or dancing.
He hadn't answered, but she'd left him a message. She figured that it had been long enough since they'd met that his wounds from the little street fight they'd gotten into had healed.
And if they hadn't, maybe he needed some good old fashioned nursing of the sort that only a real woman could give him.
