His arm hurts, but feels a bit better after having been set in a cast.

His cell phone hasn't stopped ringing. The lawyers are well trained and amply excited to earn their pay. Well, I suspect the quiet is about to end now.

He ponders his future...

He's been expecting a call from an unlisted number. The only question is who...

"Hello."

"How's the arm?"

"It aches just a bit, sir." He glances about looking for possible eavesdroppers. "Much better than being dead."

"Most things are."

Ibn needn't worry about any possible eavesdropping. The call could have been made in a variety of other fashions. A cell phone is the least secure. The conversation will thus be strictly limited.

Talking to his father is always about the subtext. "I understand you've had an accident as well recently. I trust all is well..."

The reply is far from immediate. "As well as can be expected."

That was a lot less confidence than Ibn expected. "My trip is over now. I can come visit you after my lawyers sort through this current affair..."

"That would be appreciated." In fact, it's expected. His tone of his voice says as much.

"How have things been in general? I've seen you in the papers...."

"The same. Don't believe everything you read." There is more to the statement than just the usual cliche. Jason is foremost in his mind.

"I'm very pleased to hear that. I had been planning on calling you before accidently meeting up with new friends..." Ibn had been worried about Jason.

Is that so?

"You'll have to tell me more about your 'new friends' when you arrive. When exactly will that be?"

"I have a lot to discuss with you when we meet. I found what I was looking for...." Ibn lets that sink in for a moment or two.

"I have a patient that requires some treatment. I'll need my equipment I left with you before I can treat her. I'd like to come as soon as possible, but I understand that there might be legal difficulties. I don't suppose that you could assist with that."

"I'll see what I can manage." The response is overly casual, the underlying message clear. Consider it done.

The connection drops off without a further word.
