Even from space, the radical changes that have taken place in the last few years on Thanagar are noticeable. The planet looks... damaged. A bit discolored. There one expanse of land on the predominantly oceanic surface of the planet is slightly, but notably smaller than it once was.
This is why the struggles for control are so much more intense. So much more relevant, now that the only true grasp on power is tenuous at best.
Andar Pul has worked in the corridors of power on this planet for decades, and he has finally achieved the status of High Mor of all of Thanagar... even if it is a title he had to seize militarily.
Pul commands the strongest force on the planet, the remaining military might - though drastically reduced in size and breadth after the god of death Onimar Syn brought a cataclysm to their world and killed millions.
Pureblood Thanagarians are in startlingly short supply, but the Downsiders - the alien captives from dozens of conquered civilizations, forced into slums and servitude no matter what their status on their homeworlds - are legion, and they are angry. They have a cause now. They have principles, and they have determination to prevent any new society from gaining a foothold if their conflicting, chaotic needs are not met.
Their lives, their arguments, their intentions - these things are insignificant to the High Mor.
He just needs to know who has been supplying them with weaponry enough to prevent them from turning the entire Downside into a flashzone, just to silence them.
The putrid underclass. Why can't they do what they're told?
