Breakout

Huntress is rarely not in a mood to bust some heads. She never thought it would be on Savant's behalf, and especially after what he did to Canary so many moons ago. But here she is, with his -- what should she call him? 'Partner' really doesn't work ... at least, not in her head. She's fairly sure Savant's oblivious -- and even if he weren't, she'd ( Read more... )

Creote almost beat her to it.

As it is, once the door's down, he's charging down the hallway looking for a fight. Sure, it's against all his KGB training. But these bastards have Savant, and that's all he's really concerned with.

A voice calls out from one of the many doors in the hallway.

"In here.. hurry!"

It certainly sounds like Savant.

Huntress is hot on his heels, but not for the reasons she'd like. "Creote! Wait!"

Creote may be eagerly looking for Savant, but he's also not an idiot. Savant would never, ever say that.

Not that he isn't kicking the door down to find him. And throwing a grenade through in the meantime.

Standard KGB equipment. Kept as a souvenir. You understand.

He could have at least warned her about that!

She only gets the barest, split-second glimpse of the thing in his hand, and even less time to come to a stop and cover her head before the thing goes off.

"Aw, crap. I hate gren-"

The grenade lands in the lap of 'Savant', and detonates, cutting off the rest of that sentence as the doppelganger's flesh flows like mud to recover a semblance of his true form.

Not that Creote's going to give him enough time. He's charging forward, ready to take this 'Clayface' down.

Completely unaware of just what the villain is and does.

It's like punching tar - messy, and with little effect.

Except tar doesn't usually fight back. A column of semi-solid mud bursts forth from Clayface's 'chest', aimed at Creote's midsection.

A bo staff snaps out, utilizing itself as a slicing instrument intent on lopping off the offending appendage. Maybe she'll make julienne fries next.

The momentum of the mud is still there, and it's not like it won't flow back to him afterwards - the staff has no trouble 'severing' the mass from his main body.

"I was expectin' somebody scary, like Batman - not his pep squad."

The mud hit him like a ton of bricks. Literally. Ow.

It doesn't keep him down for too long though. And seeing as how his attacks are doing practically nothing, he tries another trick.

He throws another punch at Clayface's upper chest area and feels his hand sinking in. With his other grenade pulled and in hand.

A hand which is pulling back as quick as it can.

"Get some new material or shut up," she rejoinders. "Who are you working for?"

She may not get an answer. She may not realize that until the second grenade goes off.

"They paid me well enough not to s-.." Creote's grenade detonates, dispersing the upper half of Clayface's body.

As the material begins to flow back together, a new face manifests on his lower torso. "Quit with the grenades already, yer just wasting my time.."

Tendrils of clay manifest steel-like sharpened points, launching themselves at the crimefighters.

Creote is running out of ideas. He does know, however, that he can't let Huntress go down here. Tackling her to the ground (but not so much as to hurt her), the spear-like clay bits go passing overhead.

"You seem to have a history for him. Care to tell me how to stop him?"

"Unf-- "

The impact doesn't necessarily hurt, but it knocks the wind out of her. And then she realizes Creote is on top of her.

...

"Extreme heat, or cold ... " She winces, and pushes him off her, then reaches for her crossbow. She has an idea.

"Sticks and stones are all well and good, lady - but I got no bones to break."

His arms manifest large hammer-like ends, and he raises them up, preparing for a sledgehammer blow.
