Sue was always closer to her two weird uncles than she ever was to the rest of the family - even her own parents. Uncle Manny died before she met Ralph but he gave her three very valuable abilities: the ability to speak (and swear in) Yiddish, the ability to play poker and figure odds for the ponies, and, lastly, an appreciation for who did what ( Read more... )

DEO Director Bones is generally shelved during events like this. This would be because his skin is invisible and people are scared of him, and he doesn't make for a good photo op.

The Ross regime, however, has encouraged more openness. Bones was a part of the Luthor regime, but never really a fan of the bastard, and he tended to wear it on his sleeve. Most likely the only reason he's still around.

As ever, there are a few people who work with him regularly he can chat up, as he tries to refrain from staying outside and smoking the whole time. But no, too many people to monitor here, the new veep included.

The upside of not appearing to have any eyes is that no one can really tell who you're looking at.

Unless, of course, you have a damn good idea where he's looking.

Pierce, after some glad handing, manages to break away toward Bones, and ... after taking a reflexive glance to make sure he's ggloved, extends his hand to the DEO director.

"Direct Bones," he says genially. "Good to see you out and about. Things holding up well at DEO?"

Bones takes the hand and shakes it firmly.

"Mr. Vice President, I wish I could say it was good to be seen, but it rarely is, judging by the sidelong looks." His tone suggests he's probably got something of a smile on his face.

"The department is breathing a little easier after losing Luthor. Remains to be seen if your new direct boss is going to try and use us as attack dogs or not. Believe me when I say I know more about you than I ever wanted to."

Jeff smiles a politician's smile. He's evidently taking to the role.

"You understand that doesn't surprise me, right?" he says. "Besides, I'm not overly concerned about it." Well, not yet says his body language. "Too much work to do between now and then."

He shrugs.

"But Ross isn't the enemies lists and attack dogs type," he says. "You knew that, of course. Still ... there's a still a place for DEO. We just need to figure out what it is."

"He's not the type yet. Power does strange things to people, Mr. Pierce."

His eyes are trained squarely on Black Lightning.

"That's why there will always be a place for the DEO."

"And on that, we're agreed, Mr. Bones," says Jeff, smiling and nodding. "But this is no place for business. We'll talk. Soon."

Pierce gives him a winning smile, turns, and catches a senator by the arm to chat about something or other.
