"Not a big secret. Just..." She looks for the right words. "Some family business that can't wait. I'll be back on the 12th for the day. You and I have a date."

There is a small, but very true, smile at that. "What are we doing?"
It's sort of like a story or something. She has no idea why being with Lilith makes her feel like a little kid in some ways. Where as Lilith being able to read thoughts makes a lot of people more uncomfortable, it allows Bette to act as she'd really like. No facade and sometimes that means she seems very, very young.

"You and I have reservations at the San Francisco Tennis Club," she states.
It's only the largest tennis recreational facility on the west coast.
