IT'S A BOY!!!!

Baby of Steel born;
Mother/Child
"Just Fine"

METROPOLIS (AP) - In a blanket press statement today where no questions were allowed, Superman announced the birth of his son.

Because of obvious security reasons, he wouldn't say where the baby was at this time; only that it was not with Lois Lane, the internationally renowned reporter who agreed to be the surrogate mother for his child.   Nor would he reveal the name chosen.

"This is a time of nothing but sheer joy for me." Superman said in his statement.  "The child is in the care of a family that for security reasons must remain nameless.  As this planet adopted me as one of its own, I am committed for my son to grow up with as normal and peaceful a life as possible."

Ms. Lane raising the child was never under consideration, either by her or by Superman.  "When we made the agreement, she was in no way ready to be a full-time parent, although I can't speak for her current feelings.  However, with her world profile being as it is, we both agreed that she would be unable to provide the privacy that our son needs right now.  I want to thank both her and her husband, Clark Kent, for their patience, grace and kindness during this time - they have truly given me a gift that I can never fully repay."

Neither Ms. Lane nor Mr. Kent were available for comment;  they are scheduled to appear on CNN tonight as part of the "Larry King Live" show to discuss the news article that led to the resignation of former President Luthor, but will no doubt be asked to address their feelings on the birth as well.
