Leaving you and going home

After her morning workout, Dinah Lance refuels the Canary Cycle and heads out of Manhattan, heading south for Gotham. For once she wears the helmet with the visor down, grateful for the shield between herself and the rest of the world.

It's a long drive, and not always an easy one, and she's glad to have something to occupy her mind. Her brain, she thinks, can just about handle New Jersey traffic, as opposed to the host of other questions lurking in the corners of her mind. The initial wave of shock and pain has receded for the moment, leaving behind that hollow, icy place inside her. That's okay. She can deal with being numb right now.

Once home in Gotham, the questions start demanding an answer.

How many other memories have been compromised?

Who else has she hurt this year?

Where's Dr. Light? A subset of questions is lined up politely behind this one, dealing with the subject of pain and how to give it, and far too many of those answers have Shiva's voice.

Should she retire?

Should she resign from ... well, everything? Other than the flower shop. After Light is arrested.

Should she hit the streets tonight and see how many Gotham perps believe a petite blonde is nothing compared to the Bat?

The answer to that one is no, pretty quickly, once she realizes what she'd really be looking for in a fight.

She wishes the other answers were so easy to deal with.
