It was amusing to watch Corrine attempt to peek outside her blindfold. He got the sense she was the type who'd shake Christmas packages in her youth

Shake packages? Try shredding a little corner and trying to get a peek before completely repackaging. Patience isn't one of the strong points.
"I'm not," she says a little defensively but still with a huge smile plastered on her face. "I can be patient. It's just, y'know, a lot of effort." The past few days have been slow, and slow is good. Plus, this is a whole lot of fanfare as far as she's concerned, and fanfare means cool stuff. Vibrating out of her seat may be a concern.
After another couple of minutes, the craft lands, and Sand leads her out of the craft onto...
...sand. Immediately, she smells the ocean, and feels a warm breeze on her face.
Sand removes the blindfold, and Corrine feels the sun on her face. She looks around, and it looks like Hawaii, but nowhere near as developed. The trees, the sand, the foliage...all of it looks...UNTOUCHED.
Beachside is something Corrine gets immediately. Maybe Kenton's a little removed from the coast, but she grew used to weekends down at the shore through her college years. You never really get over that awesome feeling of being so close to the ocean.
The sun blinds her for a second and she blinks against it, starting to take a look around. She's smiling but looking confused. Where are the tourists? The stores? There's not even a sound of traffic off in the distance. "I-- this is--" She's kind of breathless. "Where are we...?"
"Roughly 150 nautical miles from the Florida Keys, on an island roughly the size of Metropolis and its suburbs. The problem with it in terms of tourism is that its pretty much isolated - there's not enough neighboring islands in order to make development feasible. Because of this...and because it was the daughter of an old friend of Wesley's, I got a fairly good price for it."
"Well, everyone seemed to like the Florida area, but couldn't seem to agree on a city, and it's not like anyone's really going to live down here...so it kinda made sense to go with somewhere secluded if we were going to build from scratch." Sand shrugged.
"I'm not-- I'm by no means--" Corrine can't stop the shocked giggling from getting through. "Okay, yeah, I get it, it's for the team. And it's... well, it makes sense, and it's all flavors of awesome."
She wraps her arms around his neck and sighs as she looks up at him. "This is amazing. Not what I was expecting when we said 'base', but some level of far-cooler."
"And being the owner actually has a fringe benefit." Sand says.
He then wraps Corrine around his arms and falls backwards onto the beach before rolling over and kissing her. "I get to spend time with you on a deserted island."
Corrine giggles into the kiss. Saving her life and almost dying was a thing in and of itself, but if you wanted a topping of 'wonderful' on it this would be it. "Guess we got it after all."
She leans her head back against the ground and takes in the sun for a moment. She could still remember in hours how long it's been since she almost thought she lost him. Her elbows go under her as she sits up and looks at him. "I love you," she says simply.
The floor's suddenly dropping out from under her. Corrine's mouth has gone dry and for long seconds she holds her breath. She can't keep her head still long enough to formulate anything to say.
Unprobable that she'd ever say it, but she had wondered enough if Sand would ever let himself get this close to her. She knows some of that is her own doing. All she could do was fix her mistakes and hope it was enough. The feeling that this might still be golden makes her want to dance. "You have made me happier than I have ever been in my whole life. I feel safe, and strong, and-- I know what people think. It's you, Sand. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
Roughly ten seconds later, he's back with a VERY large, very satin-y blanket. He throws it out onto the beach.
"I thought this would let us be more comfortable. Less chance of Sand getting..."
He stops, then blushes beet red...partially because of where he was going, partially because of the potentially REALLY awful pun that was on the verge of taking place.
She can't help but giggle at him. "'In weird places'? Not sure I'd count that as a 'concern', depending."
She sprawls out on the blanket and gives him a crooked smile. This could be very good, or very bad. "So... since we're here, think you can answer a question?"
Corrine had debated for a few days on whether or not she'd actually ask about this. It was a lead from one of Enchantress's snide little tirades, and Corrine's really not willing to give that psycho any kind of credit.
Still. "How long after we met did you-- when did you realize you had... feelings? For me?"
He looks at her squarely. "The day I met you. In the museum part of the Brownstone." He sighs. "Was I going to act on it? No. I had really kind of put it out of my mind. But..." He smiles. "I was smitten."

But here, now, in front of him, with the sun dancing in her hair...was someone that finally loved him back.
"I love you too, Corrine." Sand says simply. He then looks her squarely in the eyes. "And I never want to love anyone else but you."
