Sadness
Tonight while heading out to dinner and errands, we saw a dog running across the road, scattering traffic. I jumped out of the car to try and save it. It got hit (not very seriously) mat an intersection, and ran off as fast as it could. :(
Before I could catch up to it, the poor thing ran head-first into a large SUV. When we got to it, it was only alive for less than a minute. I'm glad that it died quickly, but I was so sad that it died at all. It had a collar, but no tags, so we couldn't even call anyone and let them know that their dog died. All I could do was call Austin City Services, and they'll schedule someone to pick up the corpse.
It was very sad, and I felt helpless. There was nothing I could do to help the dog, but there's also still nothing I can do for closure. Alas...
