Happy New Year One and All.

We are home now, safe and sound from a lovely evening out, dinner with a friend and then the now traditional (in the 'dear god, what will we do when/if they stop') Scrimshaw New Years Eve Comedy Show. It's cold as a witches teat out there, and my legs are still warming up, but I'm cozy on our new couch with the kitty at my feet and flannel jammies on.

It's been a helluva year, and while it certainly hasn't been all that bad (see: new couch, plus many other good things) it certainly hasn't been all that good. Joblessness in the beginning, and then too much job at the end for the husband. Tension about budget cuts at my work, health issues, general drama. Specific drama. Family drama.

But now it's over, and a new year has begun, and though not officially in the pedantic sense of the term, a new decade. I am hoping that it is better. Both in the big picture (less war, more generosity, less prejudice, more love) and in the small scale (less stress, more fun, less sickness, more health).

I don't think that I'm going to make any specific resolutions, but I think that I will try, over the next year, or at least over the next day (and maybe the day after that, and the one after that and so on) to do what I can to balance those scales in those directions, both big and small picture.

Slainte, my friends.
