Day 9: Epcot 3

Nov 07, 2011 22:27

We kissed Tanner goodbye, as he was headed to the airport and home, and then the other four of us headed to Epcot, our collective favorite park. As per usual, we arrived before the park opened so were ready to scoot on in as quickly as we could. Once again, we headed over to Soarin' to begin. I'd done a bit of research and found out that during the holidays, lines at Soarin' rise over two hours! Thankfully, we only needed to wait a few minutes. We then rode Living with the Land, and spotted yet another hidden Mickey. Big-B pointed out that the cabbages, which had previously been in a Mickey shape, now spelled out "Epcot." Pretty sweet. After that my Dad and I took everyone's tickets over and got fast passes for Test Trak while Grandmum and Big-B rode the Sum of All Thrills. They took the milder bobsled option, and I think my Mom enjoyed it more than I did. Big-B again was happy with the ride. We signed up to do a Kim Possible adventure in the UK later, and then visited Environmentality and Stormstruck, two other exhibits in Innoventions.

After that, we were off to watch Ellen's Energy Adventure again. This time we got there in time to catch the very beginning of the show that we'd missed the previous time. Unfortunately, I was feeling just a little bit off that day - I'd felt just a bit ill the night before, and it hadn't improved, so I was only feeling about 75% of normal. Given that, I decided to skip Test Track and hit the loo with my Mum, while Big-B and my Dad rode Test Track. Grandmum and I went in and found a comfortable car in the area at the exit area of Test Track to wait for them. Grandmum hadn't even noticed that the cars were there when we were exiting the ride a couple of days ago. We contemplated the sad lack of demographic variety in the people at Disney World, and various other deep subjects I'm sure until the fellas were done with the ride.

At this point we were ready for lunch. The night before, when we'd looked at the list of "countries" available in the International Food & Wine festival, Big-B decided he wanted to eat at the Belgium kiosk, my Dad wanted to visit one of the German Counter service restaurants, my Mom wanted to go to the Caribbean kiosk, and I wanted food from the Canadian kiosk. Picture a slightly offset compass, and those four food choices would be almost exactly at N,S,E,&W around the lagoon - in other words, as far from each other as they could possibly be. The best plan I could come up with was to find a table in the area in front of Mexico overlooking the lagoon, and Big-B and I would wait there while Grandmum and Granddad got food. Grandmum's choice was very close, so hopefully she'd get back quickly and Big-B and I could hurry around to Belgium and then back to Canada and grab food and rejoin the others. Tune in tomorrow to find out what happened to the best laid plans of mice and Mommy...
