Oh, you want to go to "crazy" town? Here, let me guide you. I know the Mayor....

First off, cash? Nononononono. If you store anything, make it raw gold. It's the only commodity you can own that won't ever depreciate or lose value completely and it is a global currency. If you REALLY want it hid, dig deep and invest in a really good strong box. Flowers look lovely over this "X" on your personal treasure map. Inside the house? I would probably reccomend secret openings, like floor board compartments.

Aside from that, I believe communication is key and the shortwaves will be used for quite a while for MANY purposes both personal and otherwise after other avenues are long exhausted. The weird dude at the end of my street who owns 36 rabbits and has a giant HAM antenna hoisted atop his home looks less "crazy" to me every day. I think I can get use to the annoying amonia laced smell of bunny urine so he can be my new best friend when the sky is on fire. But, seriously, weather radios, CB's, police scanners, shortwave radio, yeah, it's the REAL internet. http://www.ccrane.com/

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big phony who only holds these ideas in his head but I am increasing my arsenal all the time and make this more of a, well, let's call it a "hobby" because that doesn't scare my kid so much.
