I feel the need to update. Seems a lot has happened overt the last month and there is definately a lot happening over the next two. The summer has been.... well, interesting. Mostly good but sprinkled with a fairly substantial family crisis packaged in tumor form upon my father-in-law's brain stem. Not to worry, he had most of it removed and there is a meeting tomorrow over the results of the biopsy and I am fully convinced this will be, while not fun I am sure, treatable and the old man will be back in form before we know it. Still, with a family of daughters and a worrier of a wife, both his and mine, it has been quite the emotional few weeks. You understand.
But, aside from all of THAT, we have spent ample time out doors with nightly excursions to the pool, weekend BBQ and beer with friends and the like. I even got out and hit some golf balls last night. Don't judge. Golf is fun and, besides, over-thirty, post-punk, 'burby homeowners in tattered jeans and t-shirts on the fairway are teh hawt.... I think. We'll see. I hope. I always said I would know I had become successful when I could afford the time and money to take up golf. Does this mean I'm a success!? Has my celebrity caught up with me!? Eh... I still hate what I do. Means to an end, i suppose.
I also have gotten back to work on my car this year. In fact, I took the engine down to the machine shop and just ordered a rebuild kit. Never mind the impending heart attack which will innevitably ensue from the cost of the venture, it is simply awesome to see the project progress finally. I am going to learn to weld very soon, but until I am proficient there I am satisfying my urge to create massive amounts of spark grinding and cutting just about anything I can get my hands on. So, with any luck I will have a deep rumble on the blacktop come early fall. It may not be pretty but it will roll and wake the neighbors.
We have travel on the horizon through September which makes the days mutually unbearable and rife with excitement. We will be heading off to New York in a week to stay with my dearest friend, then the boy starts school in August and then back to NY, just the two of us, in Septemeber for our anniversary and then up to Cleveland for a wedding at the end of the month. It doesn't sound like a lot but it feels like it and with everything we have to squeeze in between it is plenty. I would love to get a quick trip to Savannahm in there but I don't see it happening.
Oh yeah, we couldn't anyway, the kid starts baseball soon and that fills all the gaps... crap, there's more there than I thought. Wow, okay, well, deep breath and roll with it.
out.
