Charlaine Harris

Time for the Snoopy dance!!

In a covert operation orchestrated by my friend Carolyn Haines, I met one of my literary idols over the weekend: Charlaine Harris.

*fangirl squeal*

Charlaine was in Mobile for the Southern Independent Bookseller Association (SIBA) conference. Carolyn has known Charlaine for years so she arranged for us to meet Charlaine for dinner Saturday night. By us, I mean myself, Mark, and Dr. Annmarie Guzy (one of my favorite English professors from South and fearless faculty advisor to the Horror Club -- plus a big Charlaine fan).

We had a wonderful time. Mark and I picked up Charlaine from her book signing at Page & Palette in Fairhope, then drove her to the restaurant where we met Carolyn and Dr. Guzy. Charlaine is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She answered questions and entertained us with "behind the scenes" stories of HBO's TRUE BLOOD. The food wasn't bad either.

Saturday was the near perfect ending to a super stressful week and an experience I won't soon forget. Especially when I have this to remember the occasion:
