Working through the P90X routine and thought it'd be amusing to chart my progress here.
My fitness goals are oriented around measurable pragmatic outcomes, mostly about being able to move my body (mass) around the way I want to. That is, I'm working to build upper body strength, endurance, and flexibility. Any loss of body fat and bulking up of muscles is just bonus :-)
2011-05-10 Finished Day 9, Plyometrics - Oof, a lot harder compared to the first time. I'm blaming the late and tiny breakfast 20 minutes before starting for the muscle cramps and running out of steam. Down to 150, so I still need to up my caloric intake. Looking at a couple online food journaling tools, including an ASU Student Rec Center supported one.
2011-05-15: 2nd week done, modulo one of the ab routines for lack of time. Maintaining my weight at 151-152, but no nutrition plan yet. I've noticed an increase in upper body strength already and am looking forward to doing the pull-up routines with my body weight instead of bands.
2011-05-22: 3rd week almost done, except for the Kenpo X from yesterday. I'm going to try to fit that in tonight. I also skipped the ab workout once and the end of the Yoga X routine (the yoga belly portion) due to timing. I picked up a setup of dumbbell pairs: 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40lbs. Prior I had been using an 8 and 12 lb single weights or resistance bands and I'm excited about working on my form with the free weights. This next week is the "down" week before phase two starts in week 5. My triceps are slightly noticeable, which is new to me and a nice bonus. Pull ups are still being done with resistance bands instead of my body weight and a bar, but I'm up to 100lbs and by starting farther back and aligning my upper body with the bands I feel that I'm getting a great workout. I eagerly look forward to being able to pull up my own body mass.
Here are today's measurements: Weight: 153 lbs; Waist: 31.25 inches; Hips: 36.25 inches; Chest: 36.25 inches; Right Bicep: 11.25 inches; Left Bicep: 11 inches; Right Thigh: 21.75; Left Thigh: 21.50.
