Shermheads Unite

Those of you who didn't make it out to the Sherman Alexie reading last night are very sorry. Trust me, you're very sorry. He was amazing. It's refreshing to see a poet's work who you truly admire be just as great in person as you'd imagined. An inspiration. Throughout the evening he kept saying thoughts regarding writing that I already have in my head (of course, he said stated these thoughts more articulately and with more humor than I could possibly muster, but it was still cool). He is on a HUGE book tour right now. Who is up for following him across the country? We could call ourselves Shermheads, or Alexie's Pixies (Sherman might call us Stalkers, and that would be okay too. We'd sound like a punk band). Who's coming with me?!

Also, tomorrow is the 10th anniversary celebration for Canvas, a creative arts magazine. I can't believe it's been 10 years since me and my Union Board crew launched the publication. It's strange, time. Seems like about a year has passed since I was working on Canvas, but it also seems like 10 years have passed. Crazy. The reception is in the Union tomorrow at 4pm. I also did an interview with the IDS for the celebration. I guess they're doing a big story on it. We'll see how they chop up my responses. Somehow whenever interviewing with the IDS my quotes are attributed to other people; I am quoted with words that never came outta my mouth (or my fingers); and my background usually shifts to the person to my left and I acquire theirs.
