We learned the Lhasa is at 12,045 ft, so us acting loopy and having headaches shouldn't have been a surprise.
We tried Yak meat and found it surprisingly like beef. Enjoyed it in fact. Today we also got to try yak butter tea and although many discouraged us, we found it didn't suck. They're sweet tea though, is the best. I'll certainly miss it when I'm gone.
Yesterday we saw Jokhong temple and Potola palace. I think Jokhong temple is the best holy sites I've seen. It was beautifull and dark inside and lines of pilgrims with yak butter for the candles. Potola palace was amazing to see as well with most of the things we saw being older than our country.
Then we went out for some hard bargaining (they're ruthless here, but we all held our ground pretty well and I have to give props to Michael, Rachel, and Deana for giving them what for on the battleground. They all stuck to their prices and only once or twice we bid too low for them. I'll have to recount this a little later on.
Tomorrow morning we hop on the train to Xi'an for 36 hours so we'll have snacks and drinks ready for the long haul with all our batteries, MP3 players (may not work at 15000 feet), and computers. Sad thing is that I'm almost done with my book and Deana's finished hers and started mine.
I think Lhasa has been my favorite stop and I know without a doubt we'll be back here--and that time I will see Everest.
