Talking to LocalsgirlstrektooJuly 21 2009, 02:12:41 UTC
Isn't it exciting to be able to talk to the locals, even if you can only say 5 phrases, and you get them all wrong? I love the image of you all doing the wave.
On my first trip to China, Chinese people constantly wanted their photos taken with me, to the point where I started to feel like a cardboard cutout. But I didn't mind one bit, since I wanted to take photos of them, too. Sometimes I wonder how many Chinese people still run across me in their albums: "Here's a real American we met on our summer vacation. No, she didn't seem pushy like we heard they would be. But she was kind of strange... She kept smiling all the time!"
Do you remember, while living in Hawaii, the Japanese always wanted to take photos of you and Dwight? Seems they just couldn't get over both of your big, blue eyes and blond hair.
Bring some coins back. They make unusual earrings. Love, Mom
