Just wanted to mention that. The Tom Cruise-bashing reviews are wrong, in my opinion and the opinions of my mother and brother, who saw it with me tonight and really enjoyed it too. I think a lot of the reviewers just have a hangup about Tom Cruise being weird. He does sound like a very odd person in real life, but what does that have to do with whether he can perform as an actor? He gave a good performance, and the movie was both suspenseful and moving. I wanted to share 'cause it'd be a shame if people missed a good movie because some reviewers basically just have it in for Tom Cruise.
ETA: They did a lot to help us believe that we're really watching Germans, and IMHO, it worked. They didn't have Tom Cruise or anyone else put on a fakey German accent -- a Hollywood tic that drives me nuts --, but instead they used the German language in various ways to just remind us every so often that even though we were hearing English, it was really German. It was very well done.
