Another week (or 2, I'm not sure at this stage; haven't been counting) and I feel like I should update if only to keep my account from becoming inactive. Lets see, what tales to regale the Internet with
( Read more... )
Books... hmm... well I'll read the Nick Hornby book we found at mine (shouldn't take me too long) and then you're more than welcome to borrow it!
In the meantime... apparently The Time Traveller's Wife [Audrey Niffenegger] and The Life of Pi [Yann Martel] are both excellent (again we've got 'em somewhere if you haven't read them) although I haven't read them myself XD Or if you want to try some non-fiction you should read No Logo - did I show you that? It's by Naomi Klein and all about advertising and the rise of branding and stuffs - all very interesting.
*looks at bookshelf*
Aside from that anything I'd recommend I think you've already read, although I would recommend some Philip Pullman if you can handle the whole fantasy thing (personally I couldn't hold out longer than two books by him but regardless, he is an incredibly clever author), or even William Gibson if you want to try out some pretty damn excellent cyber-punk... I'm not sure that's quite your thang though, but pretty good all the same :D
The rest of my bookshelves (as you know by now I expect) are full up with the crap I used to read in my early teens, so unless you really want to read some Jacqueline Wilson or Harry Potter (or the Youth Bible for that matter, lmao XD ) I think that's it for the mo ^_^
Ooh, if you can track down Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom, read that too. I read it once in a four-hour stint which took me until around 2am one night because I couldn't put it down - parts are a little clichéd but it's rather beautiful all the same. Jerry Spinelli is also an excellent author. The only books I have read by him (Stargirl and Crash) are mainly concerned with high school (he's American) romances/friendships/society but he does it so damn well. I have Stargirl and will force you to read it (if I haven't already? my memory's nearly as bad as yours) despite its bright pink cover because it's gorgeous and you should.
*nods*
Well that was slightly longer than intended, oh well (o:
